Will Dragon Ball Daima Give Goku a New Voice Actor?

As a lifelong Dragon Ball fan who can still remember the excitement of watching the original series back in the day, I must say that the upcoming “Dragon Ball Daima” has me more than a little intrigued. The prospect of seeing Goku back in his kid form is certainly an exciting one, but it also brings up some interesting questions about who will voice the character this time around.

It’s been quite some time now, approximately six years, since Dragon Ball graced our screens with fresh content. Fans said goodbye to Dragon Ball Super in early 2016, leaving Son Goku to continue his journeys through the manga while the anime remained quiet. Naturally, the absence of the series left fans yearning for more, and the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima has become even more significant as a result. Next month, the anime is set to return, with Goku by its side once again. However, after watching trailers for Dragon Ball Daima, fans are beginning to wonder… Could there be a change in voice actor for Goku?

The situation took a turn when details about the new series titled “Dragon Ball Daima” were revealed. This series serves as the latest addition to the main storyline and focuses on Son Goku, who finds himself transformed back into a child due to a wish. Characters such as Vegeta and Piccolo will also experience this transformation, causing confusion in Universe 7. In “Dragon Ball Daima“, Goku along with the Kaioshin work to bring order back to Earth, but if Goku is now a child, it may necessitate changes in the character’s voice.

To put it simply, Adult Goku and Kid Goku have distinct voices, with Sean Schemmel having voiced the character’s mature self for quite some time. However, since Kid Goku will be making a comeback, we’re left wondering who will be the new voice actor for the hero going forward.

Who Will Voice Kid Goku?

In terms of the character Kid Goku from Dragon Ball Z, the Japanese version of Dragon Ball Super has an advantage due to Masako Nozawa’s long-standing role. Since the debut of Dragon Ball on television, she has been the voice behind Goku in both his child and adult forms, but her contributions don’t stop there. She also voices Gohan and Goten. As for Goku’s family, Nozawa essentially holds exclusive rights to the bloodline, so fans can anticipate her continuing as the voice of both Kid Goku and Adult Goku as Dragon Ball Super approaches its conclusion.

In a different scenario, the English dub is a whole new ball game. Notably, there are two voice artists with prior experience in portraying Kid Goku in the series. Yet, Toei Animation might still discover a third contender. Nevertheless, enthusiasts of Dragon Ball eagerly anticipate the return of one of its original stars for this upcoming animation. Consequently, our possibilities are now limited to Stephanie Nadolny and Colleen Clinkenbeard.

Will Dragon Ball Daima Give Goku a New Voice Actor?

In case you weren’t aware, Nadolny was the voice behind Kid Goku in the original Dragon Ball anime and reprised her role for Dragon Ball GT. In the early days of Dragon Ball Z, she also voiced Kid Gohan. However, during the dubbing of Dragon Ball Z Kai, these roles were taken over by Clinkenbeard. Later on, starting from 2010, Nadolny resumed her role as Kid Goku after having played various background characters in the anime since Dragon Ball Z.

Both Naldony and Clinkenbeard have claim to Kid Goku, but no word has been given on whether they will star in Dragon Ball Daima. The anime is keeping its dub details close to chest. But given the rise of simuldubs in anime, fans are hopeful Dragon Ball Daima will deliver something special upon its launch.

If you’re eagerly anticipating the debut of “Dragon Ball Daima”, here’s something exciting: The anime is set to be released in just under a month!
