Batman to Get Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Batman to Get Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

As a lifelong fan of all things Batman, I can hardly contain my excitement about this momentous occasion! The Caped Crusader has been a constant source of inspiration and entertainment for me ever since I was a little kid flipping through the pages of Detective Comics. To see him finally receiving the recognition he deserves with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is truly a dream come true.

In a surprising turn of events, Batman is traveling from Gotham City to Los Angeles. On Monday, it was announced that Batman will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this coming Thursday, September 26th. This makes Batman the first superhero to earn this prestigious honor. The 2,790th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame will be dedicated alongside the stars of Adam West, who played Batman on television, and Bob Kane, one of the characters’ co-creators.

Jim Lee, who serves as DC’s president, publisher, and chief creative officer, along with Anne DePies, DC’s senior vice president and general manager, are set to attend the Batman Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time (PT) on 6764 Hollywood Boulevard, in front of the Hollywood Guinness World Records Museum. The original Batman character will show up in costume to receive his star in the motion pictures category, and also for being the first superhero to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, during a unique presentation by official Guinness World Records adjudicator Michael Empric.

Batman achieved recognition in the Guinness World Records for holding the longest-lasting comic book series, Detective Comics, which has been published uninterrupted since 1938. In addition, Batman was distinguished as the comic book character with the most live-action film adaptations, starting from the 1966 Batman and extending to The Dark Knight Rises in 2012. Guinness also acknowledged that Batman holds the record for having the most Oscar-winning actors portray a single superhero, including George Clooney (Batman & Robin in 1997), Christian Bale (The Dark Knight trilogy), and Ben Affleck (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016). Furthermore, Batman was recognized for having the most video game adaptations based on a superhero movie.

2024’s Batman Day is set for September 21st. Following this celebration, Warner Bros. Discovery will carry on the excitement with a fan event coordinated with the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on September 26th. This event, held at Funko Hollywood store (6201 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028), will feature a one-hour meet and greet and autograph session with Lee from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lee, who serves as the Chief Creative Officer of DC, is well-known for his work on comic book titles such as Batman, including the Batman: Hush storyline, All Star Batman and Robin, The Boy Wonder, and the New York Times bestseller, Justice League, penciled by him.

Only the initial 100 fans, who secure a wristband, will be allowed to attend the exclusive autograph session. These wristbands will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis starting Tuesday, September 24th, with any Batman merchandise purchase at Funko Hollywood. Aside from Lee’s signing, there will also be a pop-up museum showcasing costumes and props from Batman’s film and TV history at the same location, courtesy of Warner Bros. Archives. This includes genuine props, famous costumes, and some exciting surprises, giving fans an uncommon opportunity to appreciate pieces of Batman’s cinematic legacy close up and personally.

2024 marks the occasion when Batman, the fictional character, will be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, making him one of only twenty such characters to receive this honor. Joining an esteemed group that includes directors like Tim Burton (responsible for 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns) as well as actors such as Maggie Gyllenhaal (from 2008’s The Dark Knight) and Gal Gadot (known for her roles in Wonder Woman and Justice League), Batman will leave his mark on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
