5 Coronation Street spoilers: Bethany Platt falls gravely ill in shocking cosmetic surgery story

As a long-time resident of Weatherfield and a regular viewer of Coronation Street, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of empathy for the characters as their lives continue to unfold with unexpected twists and turns.

Next week, Bethany Platt’s (Lucy Fallon) heart-wrenching plot takes an alarming twist as it’s discovered that she’s critically ill in an Istanbul hospital, causing deep concern among her loved ones.

Meanwhile, is Roy Cropper (David Neilson) in danger as Joel Deering (Calum Lill) turns on him?

In simpler terms, Gary Windass, played by Mikey North, springs into action upon Mason Radcliffe’s (Luca Toolan) second return. Meanwhile, Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) and her daughter, Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell), are busy organizing a special event.

Ultimately, Isabella Flanagan’s (Hope Dobbs) recent behavior steals the spotlight from Fiz’s (Jennie McAlpine) special birthday celebration.

Here are all your Coronation Street spoilers from 23th – 27th September 2024.

5 Coronation Street spoilers next week

1. Bethany Platt’s in intensive care in Turkey after dangerous surgery

Alison King’s character, Carla Connor, hints to Tina O’Brien’s character, Sarah Platt, that since Bethany is gone, there might be a chance for Rob Mallard’s character, Daniel Osbourne, to get back together with his ex, Daisy Midgeley, played by Charlotte Jordan.

Sarah brushes it off for now, but her concerns escalate rapidly as Daniel comes back from seeing Daisy, receives a call informing him that Bethany is critically ill, and then informs Sarah urgently that they must immediately travel to Turkey.

In the midst of hurriedly gathering her belongings, Sarah suddenly notices that her passport is outdated, and this situation becomes even more troubling.

Daniel informs Sarah that due to complications with Bethany’s serious infection, she won’t be able to depart the country until her medical expenses have been covered by her travel insurance.

After Bethany wakes up, Sarah shares some significant updates about her life, and it’s been confirmed on Coronation Street that the botched cosmetic surgery Bethany underwent will result in her needing a permanent stoma for the foreseeable future.

The ITV soap is working with Colostomy UK to accurately portray Bethany’s new reality.

As the week progresses, Daniel reveals his concerns to Daisy and devises a strategy to establish a crowdfunding platform to cover Bethany’s £25k medical expenses. However, Bethany’s condition deteriorates when Sarah discovers her struggling to breathe. Will Bethany make a full recovery?

For those moved by Bethany’s tale, you may seek assistance from Colostomy UK. They are available 24/7 via their helpline at 0800 328 4257.

2. Joel Deering targets Roy Cropper

Joel gently hands over the wedding rings to Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown), expressing his enduring love and explaining that these rings symbolize all he’s given up.

Dee-Dee takes a step back when Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) and Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) approach, causing us to ponder whether they might decide to handle the matter themselves instead of relying on official justice.

In the meantime, Roy phones the hospital to inquire about Lauren. Tearfully, Lauren informs him that their newborn son, Frankie, is undergoing a scan to examine potential brain injury.

Lauren shares with Dee-Dee that she’s been monitoring Joel using a tracking app and found out he’s been spending a lot of time in a field and an industrial area. Plus, an unusual sum of £5k was deposited into her account without any clear reason. So, what on earth is Joel up to?

Later on, Dee-Dee confides in Ed and Ronnie that today was supposed to be her wedding day, meanwhile, Joel is secluded in his apartment, penning a letter.

Joel then stumbles into the café where Roy is alone, locking the door behind him. Is Roy in danger?

3. Gary Windass attacks Mason Radcliffe

Dylan Wilson (played by Liam McCheyne) asks Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) to admit she placed the handbag on Mason, but she denies it. Later, Dylan tells dad Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) that it was actually Betsy who took the customer’s purse, not Mason.

On the next day, Betsy, Dylan, and Liam Connor (also known as Charlie Wrenshall) were conversing about Mason’s recent release when, coincidentally, Mason himself walked in.

Following a message from Liam, Gary stormed over and held Mason tightly against a wall, with Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) managing to disengage Gary from Mason afterwards.

Stu apologises to Mason for not believing him about the purse, and offers his job back.

It seems that Mason might be given a new beginning, but as the week unfolds, he turns up at work sporting a shiner, claiming he bumped his head instead.

Gary Connor, along with his wife Maria (Samia Longchambon), are upset as Mason has returned to work at Speed Daal. Later, in a secret move, when the restaurant is closed, Mason discreetly re-enters and sets up his sleeping bag inside.

Will Stu and Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King) find out?

4. Bernie Winter and Gemma Winter-Brown plan a rave to honour Paul Foreman

Bernie and Billy Mayhew (played by Daniel Brocklebank) continue to have disagreements regarding the specifics of Paul Foreman’s (portrayed by Peter Ash) funeral arrangements.

I suggest giving Billy the creative reigns, while we orchestrate a fitting farewell for Paul later in the form of an exhilarating rave party.

The preparations are getting started, and it’s been noted that half-brother Kit Green (played by Jacob Roberts) hasn’t yet confirmed whether they can block off the street for the party. Can Kit manage to use his connections?

Later, it saddens Billy to discover that Paul’s funeral coincides with the day they were supposed to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Can the family unite to provide Paul an honorable goodbye?

5. Thieving Hope Dobbs’s secret ruins Fiz Dobbs’s 40th

At the Bistro, Fiz and her husband Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) are celebrating Fiz’s 40th birthday when Tyrone receives a text message from school. This text unexpectedly uncovers Hope’s secret of vaping.

As a concerned parent, I, along with my partner, have taken it upon ourselves to educate our daughter about the potential hazards associated with vaping. However, she seems uninterested in heeding our advice. In a moment of rebellion, she decided to secretly obtain some vapes from a nearby convenience store. Unfortunately, her haste caused her to knock over a display of vapes as she exited the shop.

Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) is intrigued to spot them on the floor – has he caught Hope out?
