Developers Visit Nintendo of America Headquarters as Switch 2 Rumors Circulate

As a lifelong Nintendo enthusiast who’s been through the rollercoaster of console releases since the good old days of the NES, I can feel the excitement bubbling up once again. The whispers and rumors about the upcoming “Nintendo Switch 2” have been circulating for months, and with September nearing its end, the anticipation is reaching a fever pitch.

As we move beyond mid-September, all attention is focused on Nintendo. This month, enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for the supposed unveiling of the “Nintendo Switch 2,” the as-yet-unnamed successor to their current gaming console. For several weeks now, whispers have hinted at a September reveal, and everyone is on tenterhooks for that announcement. Although nothing official has been confirmed yet, there’s a sense that something may be brewing. Recent visits by various developers to Nintendo of America‘s headquarters have sparked speculation that Nintendo could be preparing its partners for the big reveal.

Currently, Josh Fairhurst, CEO of Limited Run Games, is the only known individual who has visited Nintendo of America’s headquarters. He posted a picture on X/Twitter outside the building, expressing his gratitude for their partnership with Nintendo of America (NOA). Liam Robertson of Did You Know Gaming hinted on Bluesky that multiple developers received invitations to NOA the previous day. Given Robertson’s background and industry connections, it can be assumed that Limited Run Games wasn’t the only company represented.

Could we possibly be expecting an announcement soon? It’s plausible, considering Nintendo Direct events have occurred in September for quite some time. However, this particular instance seems to differ. Following a Partner Showcase and Indie World presentation in August, anticipation for a Switch 2 reveal in September has grown, as many fans speculate that Nintendo might have been releasing its Switch-related announcements earlier to focus on the new console.

The one thing we know for sure right now is that Nintendo does have a new console in the works, and it will be revealed at some point before Nintendo’s fiscal year ends on March 31st. It’s entirely possible Nintendo could keep fans waiting all the way until March 2025, but it certainly feels like an announcement is imminent!
