For the first time in its history, the Booker Prize 2024 has revealed a record-breaking number of female authors on its shortlist.

Five of the shortlisted titles were written by women, while one was penned by a man.

The list also includes the first ever Dutch writer to be shortlisted and the first Australian author in 10 years.

In order to qualify for the award, the books need to have been authored in English and printed in either the United Kingdom or Ireland.
