Jujutsu Kaisen Epilogue Makes Big Power Shift With a Surprising Assassination

As a die-hard fan of Jujutsu Kaisen, I’ve been following this manga for years and it’s been nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster! The latest chapter has left me utterly amazed, not just because of Sukuna’s defeat, but also because of the unexpected twist involving Mei Mei.

As a dedicated gamer and avid reader of manga, I can’t contain my excitement as we approach the final chapters of Gege Akutami’s masterpiece, Jujutsu Kaisen. In just two more installments, this epic tale will officially conclude in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, marking the end of a six-year journey that has left us all breathless.

After the Shinjuku Showdown arc concluded with Sukuna’s defeat, the recent chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen have been dedicated to showing all characters recuperating from the events that transpired. In the latest chapter, they engage in discussions about their strategies against Sukuna, revealing that Mei Mei played a larger role than anticipated during the resolution. It seems she had been working covertly to further her own interests by eliminating the former leader of New Shadow Style.

Jujutsu Kaisen Kills Off a New Character

In the latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, I, along with Yuji, Yuta, and our comrades, found ourselves reflecting on how our contributions fared in the intense battle against Sukuna. Although we each had our strengths and weaknesses, it became clear that we were all spinning our wheels. But as the sun set, we realized that the past was behind us, and it was time to focus on what lay ahead.

Kusakabe clarified that Sadatsuna Ashiya, the originator of the technique, placed a confidentiality agreement on New Shadow Style to prevent its dissemination to Jujutsu Sorcerers. Over time, however, the style lost its utility for the general public and the application of Simple Domain turned into what Kusakabe refers to as an “esoteric practice,” kept within the clan that possessed New Shadow Style. They continued to welcome new sorcerers into their ranks, teaching them the technique while also reinforcing the confidentiality agreement.

What Happens to New Shadow Style Now?

The New Shadow Technique might provide an advantage for Jujutsu Sorcerers lacking Cursed Techniques when confronting adversaries. However, it comes with restrictions from the Binding Vow, such as being unable to disobey orders within the clan once mastered and absorbing aspects of the members’ lives. Interestingly, only the leader can lift this vow. It’s revealed that Kusakabe has assumed leadership of the style. Remarkably, Mei Mei secretly sought out and killed the previous head.

Her plan is for Ui Ui to eventually become the head of New Shadow Style, and collect fees from future additions to the New Shadow Style Clan. It turns out that this clan wanted to quietly build the power of New Shadow Style and eventually stand up to the big three families, but Mei Mei put a stop to it before that happened. She was angered at the fact that sorcerers couldn’t even use Simple Domain and thus lost their lives in the fights, and made sure to take out this threat before it got worse. All in secret while everything else was going on. So while she didn’t fight in the final battle, Mei Mei plays a big role in the ending.
