Revival: Image Comics Adaptation at Syfy Adds Wynonna Earp Star as Lead

As a die-hard fan of gripping mystery series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the cast announcements for the long-awaited TV adaptation of Image Comics‘ Revival! The fact that Melanie Scrofano, Romy Weltman, David James Elliott, and Andy McQueen are joining the crew is nothing short of phenomenal.

The long-awaited TV version of “Revival,” originally from Image Comics, has finalized its main cast members. On Wednesday, it was disclosed that Melanie Scrofano (known for “Wynonna Earp” and “Designated Survivor”), Romy Weltman (“Slasher” and “Murdoch Mysteries”), David James Elliott (“JAG” and “Mad Men”), and Andy McQueen (“Mrs. Davis”) have all been added to the cast of “Revival.” The series, which is an adaptation of the Image Comics series of the same name by Time Seeley and Mike Norton, has now commenced filming in New Brunswick, Canada.

In the upcoming storyline, Scrofano portrays Dana, a character who is persistently trying to demonstrate her value to a rigid sheriff, unbeknownst to them that he is her father. As she prepares to depart from her quaint hometown forever, the occurrences of Revival Day cause a sudden change in plans, compelling her instead to tackle her most significant case yet.

In recent developments, “Revival” becomes the newest comic book series to secure a place on Syfy, following the network’s successful launch of shows derived from Resident Alien (Dark Horse), Wynonna Earp (IDW), Krypton (DC), Vagrant Queen (Vault), and Deadly Class (Image). The “Revival” series now aligns with Syfy’s current and forthcoming television lineup, which boasts the return of The Ark, SurrealEstate, and Reginald the Vampire.

What Is Revival About?

On an extraordinary day in rural Wisconsin, the recently departed inexplicably emerge from their graves. However, this isn’t your typical zombie tale because the “revived” behave exactly as they did before. When local Officer Dana Cypress, a single mother, finds herself thrust into the heart of a gruesome murder investigation that has unexpectedly come her way, she must navigate the confusion and fear sweeping through a town where everyone, whether alive or undead, is a potential suspect.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but express my thrill at the prospect of crafting an atmosphere for this intriguing narrative we’ve been developing. Mark Englert and I are putting in countless hours to establish a tense mood that, hopefully, will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Frankly, I couldn’t be more satisfied with how things are shaping up so far!

Will There Be a Revival Movie?

Since the initial release of Revival, plans for an adaptation have been continually discussed. However, these plans never came to fruition. At the 2017 Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, it was announced that a film adaptation was in development, with Tim Seeley co-writing and Luke Boyce directing. Even a preview trailer, known as a proof of concept, was screened at the event.

I’m absolutely thrilled to be breathing life into this extraordinary piece. ‘Revival’ has consistently been one of the top titles from Image in recent years and has held a special place in my heart since it first appeared in 2012. Even before I met Tim and Mike, I had long harbored dreams of adapting this story for film, and I am determined to do everything possible to bring it to its fullest realization.
