Agatha All Along: Episode 1 Teases Scarlet Witch’s MCU Fate

Agatha All Along: Episode 1 Teases Scarlet Witch's MCU Fate

As a die-hard MCU fan who has been following this universe since its inception, I can’t help but be thrilled by the tantalizing hints dropped in the first episode of Agatha All Along. The way they’re subtly weaving in references to WandaVision and Doctor Strange is nothing short of masterful.

In the debut episode of “Agatha All Along,” Kathryn Hahn reprises her role as Agatha Harkness, sparking speculation among Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans regarding Scarlet Witch’s future. The series quickly delves into the possibility of Wanda’s status, and in a nod to viewers, Detective Agnes O’Connor, disguised as Agatha, shares witty remarks with her colleague Herb about a young woman who supposedly died under mysterious circumstances – crushed by a large rock. It seems as if they are hinting directly at the audience, “yes, we know who you suspect this might be.” The first episode of “Agatha All Along” mimics the TV format gimmick from “WandaVision,” which could potentially signal the comeback of the beloved Marvel character. (Spoiler alert: Contents beyond this point may reveal details about the first episode of Agatha All Along!)

In this episode of Agatha All Along, the hints about Wanda’s character are still being subtly dropped. The camera consistently masks Jane Doe’s face as she lies on the ground, a detail that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness fans may recognize as reminiscent of the 838 version of Wanda Maximoff from that movie. When Agnes can’t shake off the ominous feelings about the “missing persons” case, she visits the morgue. A library records card found at the crime scene indicates “W. Maximoff” as the last person to borrow an item from the library. (Given the fiery void left in the Westview library where a book should be, it seems likely that it’s the Darkhold.) As Rio Vidal forces Agatha to recall her past, we see she too had taken out the malevolent tome. This plot development follows directly from WandaVision.

Hey fellow gamers, here’s my take:

How Would Scarlet Witch Return?

Agatha All Along: Episode 1 Teases Scarlet Witch's MCU Fate

The Witches’ Road is the easiest answer here. Joe Locke and Kathryn Hahn have been mum about any possible appearances from Elizabeth Olsen in Agatha All Along. Despite Scarlet Witch’s apparent death in the last Doctor Strange movie, things can get really wild with magic. In the lore of this Marvel universe, The Witches’ Road gives anyone that manages to survive its trials their greatest desire. If you polled a lot of MCU fans right now, their biggest wish list item is getting Wanda back in some capacity. Maybe that’s the prize waiting at the end of Agatha All Along for all of us?

This week on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, the actress playing Wanda Maximoff casually expressed her willingness to rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The crowd chuckled at the banter between them, as she humorously referenced an “explosive energy red light” that had previously caused harm to her character in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” Olsen has always been open about expressing her thoughts regarding Marvel Studios and their fans. She’s also keenly aware of the immense affection people have for Wanda, particularly following the successful run of “WandaVision.” The fan excitement about a potential return has been building for quite some time now. All it would take is an official announcement of a standalone project to ignite a week-long online celebration.

In simpler terms, Olsen said to the host, “I feel like I’m gone, but I’d ask for a door left open [for my return]. I’d love to discover a way to surpass being dead. We should look for the most brilliant writers to help us make this work. Maybe the key to that smart solution lies in Agatha All Along. Yet, the question of what happens when she returns is something that many fans are pondering.” It appears that the latest Disney Plus show, despite being new, seems to be setting the stage for something significant.
