As a lifelong fan of British soap operas, I am deeply saddened by the passing of Geoff Hinsliff, a true Coronation Street legend. His portrayal of Don Brennan was nothing short of iconic, and his dark and complex character added depth to the cobbles that will be missed.
87-year-old Geoff Hinsliff, most recognized for playing Don Brennan in Coronation Street, has passed away, according to confirmation from the ITV soap opera.
From 1987 to 1997, Hinsliff portrayed the unforgettable antagonist on the street, where he was involved in several disturbing plotlines. These storylines encompassed abduction and an attempt at taking a life on the cobbles.
Initially, he made his appearance on the program back in 1963 and portrayed several diverse characters prior to being cast as Don.
Apart from films, the actor was part of several television shows throughout his professional journey, such as the comedy-drama Brass, medical drama Holby City, and police series The Professionals.
Helen Worth, the actress portraying Gail Platt on Corrie, has initiated heartfelt tributes, remarking: “Geoff was a kind, gentle soul whose absence will be deeply felt by everyone.
For quite a few years, his collaboration with Lynne Perry brought immense joy to audiences, making it truly unique and remarkable.

Over the course of ten years on Coronation Street, one of the character’s plotlines involved him purchasing MVB Motors from Mike Baldwin, and another involved an attempt to murder Mike’s wife Alma by deliberately crashing their vehicle into a canal.
In another setting, Don attempted to hit Mike with his car, but his character departed from the soap opera after his vehicle collided with a bridge and detonated.
Geoff is survived by his wife Judith and their daughter, Gaby.
