Futurama Season 12 Teases New Anthology in Exclusive Clip

As a seasoned gamer and long-time fan of Futurama, I must say that this show has been a delightful throwback to my youth. Having grown up with its witty humor and intricate storylines, it’s heartening to see the series return to its former glory. The latest anthology episode in Season 12, titled “The Futurama Mystery Liberry,” is an exciting twist that harks back to classic children’s mystery books, and I can hardly wait to witness the fun-filled adventure it promises!

Futurama’s Season 12 is nearing its end, and a sneak peek for the second-to-last episode of the season hints at the debut of a fresh anthology episode within the series. This summer, Futurama made its comeback on Hulu with new episodes, marking a more robust return compared to Season 11 from last year. The revamped series is now running smoothly as characters Fry, Bender, Leela, and the rest of the Planet Express gang have been involved in adventures reminiscent of the classics, based on what we’ve seen so far this season. However, one question remains unanswered.

The long-running animated series Futurama, which has always been known for its unique storytelling, hasn’t revealed a new set of tales like previous seasons. This has sparked curiosity about where the show would head this year. It appears that Futurama Season 12 is opting for an anthology format, as demonstrated by Episode 9. This episode will premiere on Hulu on Monday, September 23rd, and it’s titled “The Futurama Mystery Library”. The synopsis hints that the episode will reimagine Futurama in the style of classic children’s mystery books. You can catch a sneak peek at the episode with an exclusive clip available in the video above.

What Is New in Futurama Season 12

This Summer, Hulu brought back Futurama‘s Season 12 with fresh episodes that have been spotlighting each character differently. While it continues to keep its classic sitcom format, the new episodes have creatively explored the characters’ personalities more deeply. For instance, the first episode delved into Bender’s Mexican heritage and introduced his family for the first time in the series.

Although not as drastic as the upheavals witnessed in Futurama Season 11 and the arrival of Kif and Amy’s offspring, this current period has seen significant progress in expanding the storyline. The second episode offered viewers a glimpse into Fry’s past, we met Hermes’ father in one of the recently released episodes, Leela forged new relationships, and there was an unexpected twist where the Professor nearly destroyed Earth due to his rapid fashion innovations. It’s been quite an unpredictable season so far.

What’s Next for Futurama?

In just two more episodes airing on Mondays via Hulu, Futurama Season 12 will conclude, but fans can rejoice as the series has been renewed for another two seasons! Production is already underway for potential future content in this fresh new era on Hulu. During an interview with egmr.ru earlier this year, the show’s executive producers hinted at the possibility of a film too. David X. Cohen expressed, “We’ve advocated for it numerous times. We produced four direct-to-DVD films, but that was quite complex as each one had to be designed to also break down into four TV episodes…it was an arduous process.

Cohen went on to say, “We’ve long believed it would be perfect for a theatrical film. In fact, we sometimes gather the cast and crew to watch episodes together in a cinema. It looks amazing, even just for television! I think it could work wonderfully. Matt Groening also shares this sentiment and has some unique visual ideas should we ever decide to make it. Let him share those with you.
