She went on to say, “What I’ve always strived for is to never present a false self or deceive others. It’s not about having faith that people will like me; instead, it’s more about not wanting to pretend to be someone I’m not.
The Oscar-nominated individual mentioned that photo shoots are something she’s become proficient in, stating they’re a skill she’s learned to handle, but she continues to grapple with the potential image these glossy magazine pictures may convey about her to the public.
Pugh clarified, “I’m not a model and the image presented doesn’t truly represent me. However, it’s important to feel deserving of being part of such publications, embracing your unique beauty.
She went on, “But now I know what I want to show. I know who I want to show. I know who I want to be and I know what I look like. There’s no insecurities about what I am anymore.”
Additionally, Pugh mentioned that the same sincerity and authenticity she values in herself is reflected in her approach towards her acting profession.
She expressed a preference for portraying pain on screen, stating it’s crucial to her acting. She believes it’s her responsibility to portray authentic human emotions and depict what seems real and painful – be it genuine tears, an unsettled expression, or a lack of restraint when nude.
