Emmerdale reveals Will Taylor’s blackmailer in iconic twist from classic character

As a long-time Emmerdale fan with a soft spot for the villainous Kim Tate, I must say tonight’s episode was a rollercoaster of emotions! The blackmail plot twist involving Will Taylor and his ex-wife Rose Jackson had me on the edge of my seat.

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale, on the 19th of September 2024, brought a thrilling unveiling to Will Taylor’s (Dean Andrews) blackmail scheme.

For several weeks, Will has been under threat by an unknown antagonist. This individual threatened to disclose his past relationship with his ex-wife, Rose Jackson (played by Christine Tremarco), unless a substantial amount of money – thousands of pounds – was handed over to them in secrecy.

In the present, Will’s wife, Kim Tate (Claire King), had decided to mend their troubled relationship, inviting Will over for a heartfelt meal at home.

While it was due, Will officially handed over ownership of a portion of the haulage firm to Caleb Miligan (Will Ash), should he fail to repay the substantial loan on schedule.

Ignoring Caleb’s inquiries regarding his suspicious actions, Will instead messaged the extortionist to verify that he possessed the required funds. Later, he cautioned Jimmy King (played by Nick Miles) about his arrangement with Caleb, yet made clear that he had no intention of relinquishing his ownership shares.

Upon returning to Home Farm, Will discovered a lunch simmering in the kitchen and Kim nowhere to be found. Shortly after, he got a call where AI mimicked his voice, informing him that their blackmailer had taken Kim captive.

They provided Will with a location, and upon arrival, he ventured into a forest where he stumbled upon an eerie mannequin resembling Kim, accompanied by a message directing him deeper into the environment, cautioning that time was of the essence.

When Will discovered a shovel buried deep within a mound of soil, he was given directions to excavate a grave, causing him to panic upon hearing Kim’s desperate plea for assistance.

Underneath the earth lay a coffin labeled with Will’s name, inside which was a walkie-talkie playing a message from Kim. Then, he was struck by a shovel. As Will tumbled into the coffin, Kim stood above him, beaming triumphantly, as if validated.

Kim suspected Will’s unfaithfulness because of his actions, so she tried verifying her doubts by manipulating him with extortion. In the end, it was Will who admitted to his infidelity, while Kim departed, leaving Will figuratively trapped in a sticky situation – literally stuck in the mud!

Indeed, it’s hardly unexpected that Kim took such steps, considering her history of staging her own demise and abandoning others in peril.

It was delightful to witness Kim at the top of her game again, though it should be noted that ‘her best’ seems to include questionable actions. Has Kim’s marriage to Will officially ended?

Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 7:30pm on ITV1. Stream on ITVX.
