Nightsleeper star breaks down major finale reveal: “For the longest time we didn’t know”

As someone who has spent countless hours engrossed in the gripping world of Nightsleeper, I must say that the twist at the end of episode 6 left me utterly spellbound. The revelation that Paul Peveril was the mastermind behind the cyber attack was a shock to the system, and it’s safe to say that I certainly didn’t see it coming!

Warning: contains full spoilers for Nightsleeper.

As a fervent admirer of the gripping BBC One thriller, I’ve just shared my thoughts on the mind-blowing twist ending that Gabriel Howell, the NightSleeper star, has been talking about. This unexpected revelation exposed the real mastermind behind the country-wide cyber attack that sent shockwaves throughout our nation.

As a devoted cinephile, I’d say this captivating series unfolds the infamous ‘hackjack’ incident on a speeding overnight train journey from Glasgow to London. The narrative keeps you on the edge of your seat, as unsuspecting passengers find themselves hostages in this high-stakes game while the train barrels down the tracks at breakneck speed.

In a frenzied effort, Howell portrays Tobi McKnight, a member of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), as they race against time to halt a harrowing predicament.

Unaware of it, one among them is the culprit – delve into Howell’s surprising response to the sixth episode of Nightsleeper, now streaming on BBC iPlayer.

In episode 6 of Nightsleeper, it’s uncovered that Paul Peveril, a quirky associate of NCSC director Abby Aysgarth, is none other than the devious hacker who has been under investigation all along.

As a cinephile, I’m crossing my fingers that they won’t spot it coming. Frankly, I don’t believe they will. Just like many of us in the control room, we were clueless for some time, and then we realized, ‘Ah, it’s you!’

For a considerable stretch, I found myself unfamiliar with it, discovering something fresh and intriguing each day. Here’s to the hope that this sense of curiosity and learning transcends to you, as I once stood in your shoes.

In a subsequent remark, Howell expressed that he considered the plot twist as justified because Paul’s betrayal against his previous team seemed logical given the hardships inflicted upon him by the NCSC managers, particularly Nicola Miller (played by Pamela Nomvete), who had been under scrutiny earlier in the series.

He has been excluded or shunned because he spoke up as a whistleblower regarding current events, potential issues, and the status quo,” explained Howell. (Informal: He got kicked out for blowing the whistle on stuff.)

In a world where change is relentless and rapid, and those with the greatest understanding may encounter obstacles from governmental entities failing to recognize the true magnitude of the danger, I found an overwhelming sense of exasperation.

Howell remarked: “It’s like the tale of Chicken Little shouting ‘The sky is falling!’ – but everyone seems oblivious… The essence of this character trait makes for a delightful conclusion.

Alongside Howell, Roach, and Threlfall, the cast of Nightsleeper additionally includes Joe Cole, a veteran from the series “Gangs of London.” He plays Joe Roag, a former police officer with a questionable past, who navigates the escalating conflicts within the train that has been hacked.

You can stream Nightsleeper on BBC iPlayer. Don’t forget to tune in every Sunday and Monday at 9 PM on BBC One.
