DandaDan Releases First Look At Anime's English Dub

As someone who’s been following anime for decades now, I can confidently say that DandaDan has quickly become one of my favorites. With its unique blend of humor, supernatural elements, and intriguing characters, it’s no wonder fans are going wild over this show!

This fall anime season is packed with exciting titles, and “DandaDan” is one of them competing for the top position. The much-awaited anime adaptation from Science SARU premiered its initial three episodes in North American cinemas due to “DandaDan: First Encounter”. Fan reactions to the theatrical release have further fueled anticipation for the supernatural escapades of Momo and Okarun. Although the movie has hit Western theaters, it did not include an English Dub. However, good news is that an English Dub is on its way, as the cast has already been selected. Additionally, a new trailer for the show was released recently, giving fans their first glimpse at the dub.

DandaDan debuted in 2021 and has amassed more than 160 chapters so far, suggesting that the anime could potentially span multiple seasons if it continues. If you haven’t encountered this supernatural shonen series by creator Yukinobu Tatsu yet, it revolves around two high school students named Okarun and Momo. The character Okarun is a young boy who is convinced about the existence of aliens and UFOs, while Momo has an affinity for ghosts and the supernatural. In a series of intriguing encounters, Okarun meets a ghost referred to as “Turbo Granny,” and Momo crosses paths with psychic aliens who aren’t shy about abducting humans.

DandaDan’s Theatrical Expansion

GKIDS, the company responsible for bringing “DandaDan” to North American cinemas, has revealed that additional screenings will be available this weekend, underscoring the film’s success during its initial release. The Japanese voice cast boasts some notable talents such as Shion Wakayama portraying Momo Ayase, Natsuki Hanae as Okarun (whose real name is Ken Takakura), Mayumi Tanaka as Turbo-Granny, Kazuya Nakai as Alien Serpo, Nana Mizuki as Seiko, Ayane Sakura as Aira Shiratori, Kaito Ishikawa as Jiji (real name Jin Enjoji), Ryuzaburo Otomo as Flatwoods Monster, Kikuko Inoue as Acrobatic Silky, Tomokazu Seki as Dover Demon, Tomokazu Sugita as Taro, and Fumi Hirano as Hana.

Hey there fellow gamers! If you’ve been scrolling through Social Media lately, you might have caught wind of DandaDan. You know, that game with the catchy intro “Otokone”, which is quickly gaining popularity. That tune is performed by the musical act Creepy Nuts, who earlier this year struck a viral chord thanks to Mashle: Magic & Muscle’s second season. Their hit track, “Bling-Bang-Band-Born”, became an internet sensation due to fans trying to replicate the moves of that powerful sorcerer, despite his lack of magical skills but abundance of physical strength. So if you haven’t checked it out yet, give DandaDan a spin and see what all the fuss is about!
