As a die-hard fan of DC’s animated universe, I can’t help but feel like a kid in a candy store with all the exciting news about the Harley Quinn franchise! The way they’re expanding this ‘Harleyverse’ is simply exhilarating, and as someone who’s spent countless hours binge-watching these shows, it feels like I’m part of an exclusive club.
The Harley Quinn animated series, known for its unique and mature take on DC’s superheroes and villains, has earned a special place among their movies and TV shows. Its success has even spawned a spinoff, Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, which premiered on Max this summer. With fans eagerly anticipating a second season of Kite Man, it seems the Harley Quinn universe is far from over. In an interview with ComicBook about his work on both shows, executive producer Dean Lorey hinted at more Harley spinoffs in development, although he’s tight-lipped about what they might involve.
Lorey shared, “We’re thrilled with our current situation, which we’ve been referring to as the ‘Harleyverse.’ It’s exhilarating to see so many projects in the pipeline that we’ve been laboring on. For instance, Kite Man was a significant milestone for us. I understand there were some questions about why we chose him first, given the array of characters. We discussed various options, but found Kite Man an intriguing character to launch with, considering his potential for redemption. We have many more characters in the works that we’re eager to introduce. Our aim is to expand this universe, and we’ve received encouragement from James Gunn, Peter Safran, and Warner Brothers Animation. So, we’re eagerly anticipating growing this world.
As a gamer pouring my heart out, let me tell you, I’ve got so much more to share! Honestly, I yearn to do just that. Alas, I find myself restrained. But trust me, I’m eagerly waiting for some updates on at least one of these topics. Believe it or not, there isn’t anyone more excited to discuss this than yours truly.
What Is Kite Man: Hell Yeah! About?
In the comic book series “Kite Man: Hell Yeah!“, Kite Man and Golden Glider deepen their bond by co-owning a bar situated near Lex Luthor’s Legion of Doom headquarters. Running a watering hole for some of the most notorious villains outside Arkham Asylum isn’t a walk in the park, but there are times when you yearn to frequent a place where everyone knows your face, and a trick or two about concealing a body.
In my gaming world, I’ve got an exciting lineup for Kite Man: Hell Yeah!. I’m Kite Man, played by Matt Oberg, speeding through levels alongside Golden Glider, brought to life by Stephanie Hsu. James Adomian is the menacing Bane, while Natasia Demetriou voices Malice. Queen of Fables is portrayed by Janelle James, and Jonathan Banks takes on Noonan. Keith David brings Darkseid to life, Michael Imperioli plays dual roles as Joe/Moe Dubelz, Rory Scovel is Gus the Goon, Lance Reddick voices Lex Luthor, and Judith Light takes on Helen Villigan.
Harley Quinn and Kite Man: Hell Yeah! are both streaming exclusively on Max.
