As a long-time Strictly Come Dancing fan and cancer survivor myself, I must say that watching Amy Dowden grace the dancefloor once again was nothing short of heartwarming. Her return to the series, after her brave battle with breast cancer, is a testament to her resilience and passion for dance.
Tonight, on Saturday, 21st September, the highly anticipated premiere of Strictly Come Dancing will air, marking the debut of all contestants as they grace the dance floor for the initial time, promising an exciting start to the season.
Indeed, the evening was filled with intense feelings as Amy Dowden, a professional from Strictly, made her comeback to the show – and oh, what a powerful re-entry she made.
On the dance floor alongside contestant JB Gill, they danced the Waltz to Leo Sayer’s “When I Need You.” Their captivating performance garnered a standing ovation from the spectators.
The judges highly appreciated JLS group member Gill’s performance and swiftly praised her. At the same time, they couldn’t wait to welcome Amy back into the Strictly Come Dancing family.
Instead of interrupting Craig Revel Horwood’s usual criticism, Motsi Mabuse promptly commended the pair and recognized that it was just the first week. She then expressed delight by saying, “Amy, it’s wonderful to have you back on the dance floor!
As I gazed upon Amy, a sense of joy radiated from me. “Amy,” I exclaimed, my heart swelling with pride, “You’ve found your rightful place here, and let me tell you, that choreography was nothing short of extraordinary!
Addressing Gill, she said, “You, indeed, are a precious gem, and our collaboration will undoubtedly be extraordinary.
After receiving such favorable responses, they returned to Claudia Winkleman to learn their scores. Reflecting on her feelings throughout the evening, Amy expressed her joy by saying, “I’m so elated, I feel like I could explode.
Indeed, emotions soared to incredible peaks when the scores were announced, reaching an all-time high for the evening. This impressive duo received eight points each from Motsi, Shirley, and Anton Du Beke, with only a seven from Craig. As a result, they sit comfortably atop the leaderboard.
In other words, it’s clear that they’re a duo we should definitely keep an eye on as time goes by.
Indeed, there’s been quite a bit of excitement about Amy coming back to the program following her hiatus, as she had stepped away from Strictly after learning she had stage three breast cancer in May of 2023 and needed time off for treatment.
After doctors confirmed in February that there was no cancer in her body, fans of Strictly are thrilled to see Amy Dowden returning to our screens. One fan expressed on X: “I’m just so happy to see Amy Dowden again! And I’m delighted she’s partnered with JB.
Another wrote: “How utterly lovely is it to have Amy and her beautiful smile back on our screens?”
Here’s to the exciting dance-filled weeks ahead!
