As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the announcement of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii has sent shivers of anticipation down my spine. Having played every title in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise, I can confidently say that this new installment promises to be an epic adventure.
Recently, RGG Studio unveiled “Like a Dragon: Pirate’s Paradise in Hawaii,” the latest installment in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series. Judging by the plot where Majima Goro finds himself on an unfamiliar island and transitions into piracy, it appears to be a spin-off from “Like a Dragon: Infinite Riches.” One of the three areas to discover is Honolulu City.
Is it comparable to “Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name”? As revealed in an interview with Famitsu (translation via DeepL), Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s president Masayoshi Yokoyama mentioned that the game’s story is approximately 1.3 to 1.5 times more expansive. However, the specific area size hasn’t been disclosed yet, but he did confirm that the overall game content is “much larger” compared to “Gaiden”.
Besides mentioning the extended development phase of the game, Yokoyama added an intriguing point – the team had to conceal it for quite a while. It appears that we can look forward to more exciting revelations in store.
On February 28th, 2025, the game titled “Like a Dragon: Yakuza Pirate in Hawaii” is set to release on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, and PC platforms. The price will be $59.99, with a Digital Deluxe Edition also offered. Discover more about the diverse gameplay spots and unique combat styles by clicking here.
