As a seasoned cinephile with decades of film and true-crime series under my belt, I must say that the upcoming Netflix release, The Menendez Brothers, has piqued my interest significantly. Having delved deep into the intricacies of the Menendez brothers’ story through various dramatizations and documentaries over the years, I am eager to hear their perspectives in their own words.


After the premiere of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Netflix has shared plans to air a documentary featuring firsthand conversations with the Menendez brothers themselves.

“Monsters: The Tale of the Menendez Brothers” – This production offers a dramatic portrayal of the incidents leading up to the fatal shootings of Jose and Kitty Menendez by their sons, Lyle and Erik, in 1989.

In their court case, Lyle and Erik asserted that they defended themselves by taking the lives of their parents due to prolonged mistreatment, with a significant part of the abuse coming from their father, Jose, whom they alleged was a constant threat to their lives.

On Monday, 7th October, a fresh Netflix documentary titled “The Menendez Brothers” is scheduled to air. This documentary will unfold the true tale using interviews, some of which are with the brothers themselves, who have shared their perspectives while in prison.

30 years following the murders, Lyle and Erik Menendez share their account of events. The Menendez Brothers’ narrative begins on October 7th.

The initial preview has been revealed, featuring glimpses of certain interviews and historical recordings.

The piece additionally includes audio clips from their interviews, where one brother remarks: “While what transpired that night is widely recognized, a great deal remains untold.

“The summary for the documentary indicates that in 1996, Lyle and Erik Menendez were found guilty of murdering their own parents, an event that turned into one of the most well-known criminal cases from the late 20th century.
