Deadpool & Wolverine Continue Their Bromance in New Marvel Series

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of comics under my belt, I can’t help but get excited about Marvel’s upcoming “Deadpool/Wolverine” series! Having been an avid fan of both characters since their early days, I’ve witnessed their evolution from page to screen, and it’s a thrill to see them reunite for this new adventure.

In a thrilling turn of events, Deadpool and Wolverine are transitioning their on-screen camaraderie to the world of comics with an exciting new series starring these two iconic X-Men characters. The bond between Deadpool and Wolverine has captured the hearts of fans everywhere, shattering box office records as they go. Marvel Comics is now offering more stories for these dynamic duo’s audience, including the captivating miniseries Deadpool/Wolverine: WWII and the Weapon X-Traction backup story. However, an upcoming ongoing series will take their partnership to new heights as they jointly face a reemerging X-Men adversary and delve into the secrets of their intertwined past.

The captivating, ongoing Marvel comic book duo titled “Deadpool/Wolverine” is penned by writer Benjamin Percy and illustrated by artist Joshua Cassara. This thrilling series marks a reunion for Percy and Cassara, who together introduced the team in “X-Force” during the X-Men’s Krakoa period. Wolverine was a central character in “X-Force“, with Deadpool making frequent appearances throughout its run. The cover art of “Deadpool/Wolverine” #1 by Cassara hints at the same intense and action-packed violence that audiences saw in their big-screen adventure within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

In his interview with IGN, Percy shared that he and Josh formed a strong bond while working on X-Force and became close friends. When Josh moved to X-Men, it was tough for both of them, but the chance to work on a flagship title is too good to pass up. Josh did an incredible job on that series, and they’ve continued texting and meeting at conventions. They exchange silly jokes and plenty of Arnold Schwarzenegger GIFs. Recently, Percy helped Josh’s wife find one of the rare 12-foot Home Depot skeletons for Halloween, so they’ll both have an epic celebration. To summarize, Percy and Josh were thrilled to reunite their team again. It’s like we’re doing cartwheels on stage, playing our guitars with all the smoke machines and pyrotechnics going off around us in Deadpool/Wolverine.

Apart from composing the X-Force storyline, Percy has also authored Wolverine’s standalone comic series and contributed to the scriptwriting for the Wolverine: The Long Night podcast. This makes him well-versed and experienced in crafting tales of Logan’s intense escapades.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but feel like it’s just another exciting step forward in the Logan saga. Ever since the captivating “Wolverine: The Long Night” podcast back in 2017, I’ve been immersed in bringing this iconic character to life for Marvel. This new series is merely the next chapter unfolding on his journey. However, it’s important to acknowledge that things have indeed shifted for the mutants, and we’re embracing this fresh reality as we move forward.

How Deadpool/Wolverine comic is different from MCU movie

Apart from sharing that Percy disclosed Deadpool or Wolverine had been under development even prior to the release of Deadpool & Wolverine in theatres, it’s worth noting that those who appreciate the film will discover plenty to enjoy. However, it’s essential to understand that the comic is an entirely unique entity on its own.

Percy commented, “The movie was a success and a laughter riot, yet we had already begun working on this series before Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds clashed in a Honda Odyssey. Therefore, it wasn’t an inspiration for us, but the relationship between our characters will bear a resemblance to theater-goers: entertaining, action-packed, featuring elements of rivalry and camaraderie (and not to mention, extremely violent).

Ultimately, Percy hinted at the introduction of the X-Men villain who will be the adversary in Deadpool/Wolverine. “I can’t disclose it quite yet due to the massive surprise it presents at the end of Issue 1,” he hinted playfully. “However, expect a fusion of future and past events that will collide dramatically in the present, and it will be our dynamic duo of superheroes who have the responsibility of preventing a catastrophe (perhaps even saving the world).
