As a diehard gamer and avid fan of both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Naruto, I can hardly contain my excitement as we approach Fall this year! The legendary turtle squad is set to join forces with the ninja world of Naruto in an epic crossover event. Masashi Kishimoto, the mastermind behind Naruto’s universe, has just unveiled a tantalizing sneak peek at this much-anticipated collaboration through some exclusive artwork.
The fusion of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) and Naruto, brought about by IDW Publishing, Shueisha, and Viz Media, is an exciting crossover event happening in November. This unique collaboration will blend the Hidden Leaf Village with New York City, leading to a fresh conflict among these well-known ninjas. The second issue’s artist, Jorge Jimenez, has shared a sneak peek on social media, showcasing an intriguing mix of Donatello and Naruto’s Kyubi form. Take a look below:
What Is TMNT x Naruto About?
The idea of a clash between Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Naruto unfolds when April O’Neil meets with the Fifth Hokage, Tsunade. This covert gathering piques curiosity not just among the residents of the Hidden Leaf Village (apparently present in their New York within the Turtles’ universe), but also the Turtles’ own adversaries, the Foot Clan. Consequently, it isn’t long before they must combine forces to tackle a looming danger even greater than themselves. In an interview with ComicBook this past summer, series writer Caleb Goellner shared insights about merging these two popular franchises.
By merging the Naruto universe with that of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Goellner unveiled that the Hidden Leaf Village has been seamlessly integrated into their world. Essentially, Team 7 will journey to a revamped version of the TMNT’s territory! To ensure the story felt genuine and well-established, we creatively incorporated a section for the TMNT within the Naruto universe. Our artist Hendry Prasetya has executed remarkable design work to make this blending successful; he possesses exceptional artistic abilities that bring life to his designs.
When Does TMNT x Naruto Come Out?
By merging these universes, Goellner also shed light on why they find this fusion almost flawless: “The appeal of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto is quite evident, but in my view, the primary reason it meshes so well is that the TMNT concept inherently possesses a vast amount of shonen spirit. To be honest, I’ve always been captivated by the two Japanese TMNT anime OVAs and the associated toys. Frankly speaking, it wouldn’t surprise me if a TMNT series tailored for Shonen Jump were to exist.” The artwork on this latest cover seems to confirm that these two entities make an unbeatable team even before the first issue is released.
Starting November 20th, you’ll find the fusion of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Naruto in comic book stores. This exciting four-issue series is penned by Caleb Goellner, with artwork from both Jorge Jimenez and Hendry Prasetya.
