Marvel Boss Reveals Which Ghost Rider He Wants to See in the MCU, And It's Not Johnny Blaze

As a longtime Ghost Rider enthusiast and comics aficionado with over three decades of reading under my belt, I couldn’t help but be intrigued by the latest developments surrounding the Spirit of Vengeance in the Marvel Universe. The choice of Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, to focus on Danny Ketch as the next Ghost Rider instead of the more popular Johnny Blaze has sparked a lively debate among fans.

Among the team members at Marvel Studios, one has shared their preferred Ghost Rider character for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although Ghost Rider might not be as widely recognized as Captain America or Spider-Man, the Spirit of Vengeance boasts a dedicated fanbase. Previously, Nicolas Cage played Johnny Blaze’s Ghost Rider in movies, while Gabriel Luna portrayed Robbie Reyes’ version on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Fans have been discussing which Ghost Rider should appear next in the MCU, and now Marvel Television’s head has offered his thoughts on the matter.

Collider had a chat with Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Chief of Streaming, Television, and Animation, during their interview for ‘Agatha All Along’. Towards the end of the conversation, they delved into Ghost Rider. If Winderbaum could magically greenlight any series at that moment, he opted for a Ghost Rider series. However, unlike the more famous Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, Winderbaum favored Danny Ketch, who is actually Blaze’s relative in the realm of Hellfire.

As a passionate gamer, I’d love to dive into the dynamic world of Ghost Rider during the Danny Ketch era. I believe many fellow enthusiasts would be thrilled to join me on this supernatural ride.

It’s important to note that just because the Spirit of Vengeance returns in the MCU doesn’t automatically mean Danny Ketch’s Ghost Rider will show up every time. While Brad Winderbaum is currently involved with Marvel’s TV series on Disney+, it’s possible that a different decision-maker at Marvel Studios might think Ghost Rider would be an excellent fit for a movie instead.

In the comic book world, there was a change in who wielded the Ghost Rider’s role. This year, Marvel launched a series called “Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance“, following hints that Johnny Blaze would no longer be the bearer of the Spirit of Vengeance. In an unexpected twist, Parker Robbins, also known as The Hood, was possessed by the vengeful spirit Zarathos and transformed into Ghost Rider. By the end of “Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance“, Johnny Blaze had a confrontation with The Hood, paving the way for the next phase in the Ghost Rider’s development.

Next week, the first issue of “Ghost Rider: Robbie Reyes Special” is due out, which is part of Marvel’s tribute series honoring Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month. A variety of accomplished artists and up-and-coming talents have contributed to three distinct stories within this issue. Notably, the co-creator of Robbie Reyes, Felipe Smith, returns for this release. Furthermore, the debut of Fantasma, a Ghost Rider character created by Luciano Vecchio, will take place in “Ghost Rider: Robbie Reyes Special” #1. This is Fantasma’s inaugural appearance within a Marvel comic book.
