The ongoing narrative in the “Hunter x Hunter” manga is known as the “Succession War Arc”. Unlike previous stories in this shonen series, this arc departs from the usual focus on Gon and Killua. Instead, it’s Kurapika who takes center stage, finding himself right in the thick of a struggle for the throne of a kingdom. The royal family is locked in a vicious power struggle, and Kurapika finds himself caught up in the civil war. Each contestant possesses unique Nen abilities that are unlike anything we’ve encountered before. Given that Kurapika has been tasked with protecting an infant prince, it falls upon him to safeguard the child while also avoiding attacks. The fact that this entire story unfolds on a cruise ship gives the narrative a sense of confinement for the hunters involved.

The popular shonen series is set to resume in Weekly Shonen Jump on October 7th, allowing manga enthusiasts just a bit longer to wait for the Succession Contest Arc to carry on. Yoshihiro’s Health Status
In a recent social media post, the creator of Hunter x Hunter shared an update on his health. Despite his previous back issues resurfacing, he mentioned that recent treatment has significantly improved his condition. He revealed that the way he positioned himself while coloring was likely causing his back pain, and it wasn’t until someone pointed out a slight difference in his posture between coloring and inking his manuscript that he realized this.
For those who might not be aware, Yoshihiro Togashi has been suffering from severe back pain as a result of his years of work as a manga artist. This has caused some major delays in following the likes of Gon, Killua, and their fellow hunters, as there have been hiatuses that will often see chapters take years-long breaks between releases. Ironically enough, the Succession Contest Arc, the latest storyline of the shonen series, hasn’t featured Gon or Killua, meaning that manga readers are approaching a decade since some characters have been featured.
Is a Hunter x Hunter Anime Return on The Way?
Regrettably, updates about the manga version of “Hunter x Hunter” have been consistent, but there’s no news about a similar return for its anime adaptation. The last time we saw Gon and his companions on screen was through Studio Madhouse’s anime adaptation, which concluded in 2014. With a full decade passing without any new episodes of “Hunter x Hunter” on TV, it will be intriguing to discover whether Studio Madhouse will pick up where they left off or if a fresh series is planned for the future.
