Frostpunk 2 Hotfix Addresses Crackling Audio, Improves Dark Mode Performance

As a seasoned survival strategy gamer with a soft spot for frozen wastelands and intricate city management, I can’t help but cheer for 11 bit studios as they continue to refine their masterpiece, Frostpunk 2. The Technical Hotfix v.1.0.2 brings much-needed improvements, particularly the fix for the audio issues that were causing some of us (and our poor PCs) quite a chill.

11-bit Studios has recently issued a technical update for Frostpunk 2, addressing an audio problem occurring on certain PCs due to excessive CPU usage. This fix is expected to improve the game’s overall performance and stability, particularly on MacOS systems.

Additional solutions involve ensuring that Dark Mode doesn’t impact performance on the middle and highest game speeds, arranging district buildings correctly within their respective categories, and addressing other related issues. It would be beneficial to enhance the efficiency of city messages as well. Furthermore, Nvidia Quadro GPUs can now leverage DLSS technology for improved performance.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m excited to share some updates! The dev team is tirelessly working behind the scenes, fine-tuning fixes for our DirectX 12.x and audio performance issues. These improvements should be rolling out soon with the next hotfix. Plus, they’re carefully considering all your valuable feedback to make adjustments in the future. So, keep an eye out for more news on that front!

The sequel to Frostpunk, titled “Frostpunk 2,” is now playable on PC platforms. Development is currently underway for its versions on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. This game has already sold more than 350,000 copies, surpassing its production and promotional costs. You can read our review of it here; we gave it a score of nine out of ten for its expanded scope, impressive presentation, and innovative systems.
