T.I. and Tiny Win $71 Million in Lawsuit Against Toy Company

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that T.I. and Tiny‘s victory against MGA Entertainment is nothing short of inspiring. Their determination to protect their intellectual property and stand up against a billion-dollar corporation speaks volumes about their character.

T.I. and Tameka “Tiny” Harris are celebrating a victory.

On September 23, the rapper known for “Live Your Life” and his wife, who have been married for 14 years, were granted $71 million following their third court victory against MGA Entertainment, a toy company. They had accused MGA of infringing on the intellectual property rights of their music group, the OMG Girlz, with their L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. dolls.

In a statement issued on September 24th, their attorney expressed that they felt honored to stand for the OMG Girlz, Tiny, and T.I., who demonstrated bravery by confronting a multi-billion dollar company’s attempts at intimidation and disrespect. They faced this challenge with poise, tenacity, and unwavering commitment to safeguard their creative works and the rights of fellow artists.

The statement emphasizes that due to T.I. and Tiny’s persistence, a commendable jury took appropriate action in finding MGA Entertainment responsible for both trade dress infringement and unauthorized use of name, image, and identity.

TopMob News has reached out to MGA’s lawyer for comment but hasn’t heard back.

Jurors awarded T.I., 43, and Tiny, 49, (real names Clifford Joseph Harris and Tameka Dianne Cottle-Harris) $17.9 million in real damages and $53.6 million in punitive damages following the three-week trial in Santa Ana, Calif.

According to Rolling Stone, the jury determined that 13 L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. dolls copied the distinctive style and wrongfully used the name, visual identity, and persona of T.I. and Tiny’s OMG Girlz band. Additionally, one doll was ruled to have violated the group’s distinctive style, while another was found to have misused their name, image, and likeness.

2009 saw T.I. and Tiny launching the girl group OMG Girlz, comprising of Zonnique “Star” Pullins, daughter of Tiny, Bahja “Beauty” Rodriguez, and Breaunna “Babydoll” Womack.

In the court case, T.I., Tiny (who have children named Clifford, 18, Major, 16, and Heiress, 8), claimed that seven of MGA’s dolls resembled the OMG Girlz at significant public events or in published photos, according to Rolling Stone. Isaac Larian, founder of MGA, testified during the trial that the group had no influence on the dolls’ appearance, referring to them as “extortionists.

Following the verdict, Tiny and T.I. were elated over the jury’s decision.

As a die-hard fan, let me tell you, I was simply astounded! I had my expectations, but they surpassed them all. If you’d asked me for my ideal outcome, I would have been content with whatever. But boy, did they go above and beyond! We yearned to express our gratitude towards the jurors, but unfortunately, we didn’t get that chance.

T.I. stated, “I believe justice has been upheld. This situation showcases the unyielding strength and determination of my wife, daughter, and nieces. We’re simply grateful that we emerged victorious in our struggle for creators’ rights and protection of our intellectual property, which some large corporations seem to view as a common, free resource.

Little one too expressed her jubilation on Instagram, posting on September 23rd, “Wow, we might seem a bit eccentric due to our joyful tears! We are incredibly grateful, God. A heartfelt thanks goes out first and foremost to the jury! Although we wished to thank you personally, you had already departed. To our exceptional legal team, you excelled beyond expectations! Everything we have is because of you!
