According to a recent press statement, Playground Productions has joined forces with Mega Cat Studios to revamp the classic game, “Backyard Baseball ’97”. This updated version of the original “Backyard Baseball” game is set for release on Steam for PCs on October 10th next month, priced at $9.99. Simultaneously, a sneak peek trailer of “Backyard Baseball ’97” has been unveiled and can be found below.
The unexpected aspect of the latest revival of Backyard Baseball is that the game’s original code got lost following its debut in 1997. This has made the idea of re-releasing or enhancing the game challenging over time. However, Playground Productions claims that Mega Cat managed an almost unattainable feat by cracking the original CD-ROM and creating new versions suitable for modern PCs. As a result, Backyard Baseball ’97 is currently exclusive to PC, though a launch on other systems in the future isn’t entirely out of the question.
