Paddington 4 and TV Series Spinoff Confirmed to Be in Development

As a die-hard fan of the Paddington series, I can hardly contain my excitement! With the upcoming third film “Paddington in Peru” and the development of a TV spinoff, it feels like Christmas has come early for me.

The beloved Paddington Bear movie series is planning to grow following the release of the third installment, “Paddington in Peru,” which will premiere next year. It’s been announced that production for Paddington 4 has already begun, while a Paddington TV series is also being conceived as an extension of the film franchise. This news was officially confirmed during discussions at the StudioCanal unit of the Canal+ group during the Brand Licensing Europe 2024 convention held in London this week.

As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share that Franҫoise Guyonnet, CEO of StudioCanal Kids & Family, along with Sissel Henno, Head of Global Sales – Licensing & Retail at StudioCanal, recently enlightened us during their presentation. They emphasized their commitment to transforming Paddington from a cherished brand into a global sensation, and they explored the fascinating evolution of this beloved character into a worldwide cultural icon – a journey that continues.

I’m thrilled to share some exciting news as a die-hard Paddington fan! It seems the release of Paddington 4 and our anticipated TV series is set to align in the coming years, specifically around 2027 or 2028. Interestingly, this timeline coincides with the 70th anniversary of our beloved Paddington character and franchise!

Paddington 3 Story, Cast & Release Date

Paddington 4 and TV Series Spinoff Confirmed to Be in Development

In Peru, Paddington finds himself once more, as he reunites with his dear Aunt Lucy who now lives at the Bear Retirement Home. Accompanied by the Brown family, they embark on a heart-pounding expedition when an enigma propels them on an unforeseen voyage through the lush Amazon jungle and towards the lofty peaks of Peru.

Ben Whishaw reprises his role as the main character, the bear, in the film, alongside stars Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Antonio Banderas, Olivia Colman, Julie Walters, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Jim Broadbent, and Imelda Staunton. Notably, there will be a change in directorial leadership, as Dougal Wilson steps into the role previously held by Paul King. This transition has been approved by King himself, who is confident in passing the torch of the franchise to Wilson.

Following a decade of working on the Paddington films, I strangely find myself guarding the little bear with fervor. It’s wonderful that Dougal will be there by his side as he starts his third cinematic journey. King himself stated, “Dougal’s work is consistently astonishing: funny, touching, imaginative, and entirely unique. As Aunt Lucy once requested, ‘Please Look After This Bear.’ I have full confidence that Dougal will take excellent care of him.

Paddington in Peru has a release date of January 17, 2025.
