Having followed his journey from Dancing With The Stars to his marriage with Nikki Garcia and the birth of their beautiful son Matteo, it is disheartening to see such a turn of events.

Previously accused of felony domestic violence, a former contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” has spoken out publicly for the first time since authorities decided not to press charges in the case.
He expressed his immense relief and gratitude on September 25, speaking to TopMob News, as the domestic violence accusations against him were dismissed. This period has been very challenging for him, but he’s grateful for the justice system upholding the truth.
Artem, whose spouse Nikki Garcia filed for divorce on September 11th, mentioned that his primary concern has and will continue to be their 4-year-old child Matteo.
To put it simply, he is my universe, and being his father is the most precious gift in my existence. Throughout our journey, my primary focus has always been him. I am dedicated to offering him love, assistance, and nurturing care as we progress. I am optimistic that obtaining a shared custody agreement will aid us in finding closure.
He went on to say, “I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my family, companions, and legal advisors for sticking with me through this difficult period. Your backing has been priceless, and I am grateful to all who had faith in me and recognized the truth.
Artem emphasized once more his dedication to his son, saying, “I’m eager to leave this phase behind and concentrate on what really counts – striving to be the best dad I can possibly be.
Initially, Artem was detained in Napa on August 29 due to a domestic violence accusation. However, he was subsequently freed on a bond of $25,000.
Approximately two weeks past, Nikki initiated the divorce process against Artem on September 11th, seeking both legal and physical guardianship over their four-year-old child Matteo. In contrast, Artem’s response on September 13th proposed shared legal and physical custody of their son, along with alimony from Nikki.
After the announcement of the separation, Nikki was spotted with her sister Brie Garcia, and in a recent episode of their shared podcast, Brie provided some insight about Nikki who is now 40 years old.
On the September 23rd episode of Nikki and Brie, Brie stated, “She prefers her personal space for herself and her family, so we will respect that.
The prosecution team indicated that they wouldn’t reveal more specifics about the case, such as the name of the accused victim. However, they mentioned the possibility of re-examining the case if they become aware of additional occurrences or discover new facts or pieces of evidence that were not previously known to them.
Haley stated that in the U.S. criminal justice system, it’s essential to establish any accusation of a crime ‘beyond any reasonable doubt’, which is the greatest burden of proof. If the evidence doesn’t meet this rigorous standard, it would be unethical for us to move forward with filing charges.

However, on September 13th, Artem countered her petition by requesting joint legal and physical custody of their child. Moreover, he asked for spousal maintenance from Nikki.
After the announcement of their separation, Nikki was spotted with her sibling Brie Garcia, who provided an update about the 40-year-old during a recent installment of their shared podcast.
On the September 23rd episode of Nikki and Brie, Brie stated, “She wants her privacy, for herself and her family, so we will respect that.
She mentioned that the ex-WWE star perceives all the backing and affection from their fans, and they both express gratitude in return.
Artem, too, has been bolstered by his family members and friends, including his previous dance partner on Dancing With the Stars, Gleb Savchenko.
At the DWTS season 33 premiere on September 17th, Gleb mentioned to TopMob News that he’s considered part of the family. He emphasized that this individual is an exceptional dancer, a fact that often goes unnoticed by many. According to him, it’s all about quality, not quantity.
He added, “He’s just my brother and I send him love and positivity.”

Artem Chigvintsev was apprehended around 10 a.m. on August 29th, as confirmed by Henry Wofford, spokesperson for the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, to TopMob News. Wofford mentioned that Chigvintsev, who is known for his work on “Dancing With the Stars,” did not resist and was transferred to the Napa County Department of Corrections. According to online records, he was detained on a charge of felony domestic violence with a bail bond set at $25,000.
On August 29th, at exactly 2:18 PM, the detention facility released the skilled dancer after he posted bail, as confirmed by Wofford to TopMob News. No court date has been set thus far.
In response to questions from NBC News, Wofford confirmed that Chigvintsev was arrested in Yountville, California, but declined to disclose the exact location due to a request for privacy from the alleged victim. The sheriff is also withholding the name, gender, age, and relationship of the alleged victim to Chigvintsev. However, Wofford did provide some details about the arrest.
In an audio recording shared by TMZ Aug. 30, a dispatcher can be heard saying Chigvintsev had initially called 911 to request medical attention after an argument in which shoes were allegedly thrown at him. However, the dispatcher said the 42-year-old later stated that medical help was no longer needed.
Still, Wofford said authorities continued with their check.
“For domestic violence, if someone picks up the phone and says, ‘You don’t have to come after all,’ we’re still going to go for a welfare check,” he told Page Six. “We’re not just going to stop what we’re doing.”
As of Aug. 30, Chigvintsev has yet to speak publicly on the arrest or 911 call. TopMob News has reached out to his rep for comment but has yet to hear back.
Almost three weeks before the start of Dancing With the Stars season 33, Chigvintsev was arrested. Interestingly, despite being a past Mirrorball winner who’s graced the competition series for 12 seasons, he wasn’t scheduled to participate in this season’s cast, according to Page Six and Variety. At present, ABC hasn’t responded to our request for comment from TopMob News.
A representative for Nikki Garcia, who danced together on season 25 of Dancing With the Stars with Artem Chigvintsev in 2017, issued a statement regarding his arrest on August 30th. They asked for privacy for Nikki and her family during this personal time.
Following the arrest of Chigvintsev, Cheryl Burke, who stepped down as a professional dancer on “Dancing With the Stars” in 2022 after 26 seasons, expressed her feelings about the situation. As someone she grew up with and lived with at one point, Burke shared on her podcast “Sex, Lies and Spray Tans” that she was left in “complete shock” over his arrest. On the August 30 episode, recorded the day before, she expressed sympathy to those affected, stating, “My heart goes out to everyone involved. It’s just really hard for me because he was my family. I don’t know what to say here other than I hope everybody is okay.” In a TikTok clip of her podcast, Burke also provided resources for support.
On September 24, 2024, Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley announced that her office has decided not to press charges against Chigvintsev after a comprehensive examination of the criminal investigation and a thoughtful assessment of the evidence presented to their office.
