Thunderbolts* Star Admits Even He Thought the Poster Gave Him Six Fingers

As a long-time Marvel fan and avid follower of the cinematic universe, I must say that the recent buzz surrounding the “Thunderbolts” movie poster has me both intrigued and amused. The sixth finger controversy, while seemingly trivial, has sparked an interesting discussion among fans. It’s a testament to Marvel’s attention to detail that even a cropped image can cause such speculation.

The launch of Marvel’s Thunderbolts movie marketing kicked off this week, revealing a new trailer and poster showcasing the initial glimpse of the upcoming live-action film. This project brings together a thrilling array of beloved characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for an exciting new journey – however, one intriguing detail has sparked a flurry of discussion. In recent days, fans have theorized that the Thunderbolts poster might incorporate artificial intelligence, as they spotted an unusual feature on character Bob (played by Lewis Pullman) – namely, a sixth finger. Addressing this strange speculation in a Collider interview, Pullman explained it away as simply an odd cropping issue.

Pullman shared that he had heard about the six-finger detail, but upon closer inspection, he found no errors. He admits to being confused initially, thinking he might have been given an extra digit, but this wasn’t the case. The image was cropped at a specific point that gave the appearance of an additional fingertip. Overall, he enjoys the intrigue it creates.

Who Is Bob in Marvel’s Thunderbolts*?

Although Marvel Studios hasn’t officially confirmed it, there’s a strong suspicion that the character portrayed by Pullman, Bob, could actually be Robert “Bob” Reynolds, better known as the superhero Sentry. Pullman has been vague about potentially playing this superhero part, but he seems thrilled about being part of the Marvel universe in any manner.

In his own words, he shared back in May, “I’ve always found the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be this captivating realm that seems almost untouchable. Joining this universe feels like stepping into television, where you hope to embody a character you can inhabit for a prolonged period and be part of a world you wish to stay in.

What Is Marvel’s Thunderbolts* About?

As a devoted fan, I’d put it this way: “In the world of Marvel, I’m excitedly anticipating ‘Thunderbolts’, where the enigmatic assassin Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) joins forces with an unconventional crew that wasn’t exactly on everyone’s wish list. The return of fan favorites like Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is just the cherry on top, with some fresh new characters adding a thrilling twist to the mix.

Jake Schreier is the director of the film titled “Thunderbolts“, with Kevin Feige taking on the role of the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez, and Scarlett Johansson are listed as executive producers for the project.

Thunderbolts* will be released exclusively in theaters on May 2, 2025.
