WWE SummerSlam 2025: Two-Night Event's Dates, Location Announced

As a long-time WWE fan with memories of attending my first SummerSlam at Madison Square Garden back in ’98, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and nostalgia as the event expands to two nights for the very first time! The thought of witnessing two nights of epic matches, dramatic storylines, and larger-than-life superstars at MetLife Stadium is truly a dream come true.

WWE persists in investing heavily in its high-priced, live spectacles. After enduring a 16-month worldwide pandemic that led to fanless performances, the entertainment powerhouse in sports has incorporated the “big four” events, such as the WWE Royal Rumble and WWE SummerSlam, into their stadium lineup. These events, initially staged in arenas, have now been transformed to resemble the massive crowds seen at WWE WrestleMania. Among these events, WWE SummerSlam stands out as a “second Showcase of the Immortals,” given its substantial fan attendance and the fact that it’s the only other premium live event on WWE’s calendar that offers as many matches as one night of a WWE WrestleMania card.

WWE SummerSlam 2025: Two-Night Event's Dates, Location Announced

The parallels between WWE SummerSlam and WWE WrestleMania continue.

According to a recent announcement, the annual wrestling event, WWE SummerSlam, is set to make history by expanding into a two-night spectacle at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium in 2025. The exciting dates for next year’s event are August 2nd and 3rd.

Peter Dropick, Executive Vice President of Event Development and Operations at TKO, praised New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and the NJSEA team for their exceptional partnership. They’ve been instrumental in hosting significant UFC events recently, including the record-breaking UFC 302 in June. Now, Dropick is thrilled to return WWE to New Jersey with a grand gesture – the first-ever two-night SummerSlam at MetLife Stadium.

WWE has a history with MetLife Stadium, having hosted both WWE WrestleMania 29 and WWE WrestleMania 35 there in 2013 and 2019 respectively. The Rock versus John Cena was the main event for the former, while the latter featured the first-ever women’s main event at a WWE WrestleMania, between Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Ronda Rousey.

It seems that the two-night format for WWE SummerSlam in 2026, scheduled at the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is now a permanent decision made by WWE.

During the WWE SummerSlam 2024 post-show conference, Paul “Triple H” Levesque expressed that he believes this could be the final one-night SummerSlam event. However, he added that long-term plans may change. He seems optimistic about this possibility and is open to exploring new directions, but stressed that decisions aren’t set in stone and can always evolve over time.

Five years ago, it would have been hard to imagine that we’d be holding two-night WrestleManias and even two-night SummerSlams. Now, we’re exploring what this means for us. A significant aspect of our journey involves expanding these events worldwide.
