As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds of darkness and the supernatural, I can’t help but feel a thrill at the prospect of this Great Ghost Hunt contest by Ring. With my extensive background in all things spooky, thanks to my stints on Stranger Things and Ghostbusters, I’m more than confident that my sixth sense will guide me towards capturing some truly eerie footage!
Users with Ring doorbell cameras have an opportunity to earn a significant sum by participating in a new initiative called The Great Ghost Hunt. Ring, in collaboration with stars like Finn Wolfhard from Stranger Things and Ghostbusters, is offering $100,000 for the most compelling videos showcasing mysterious visitors. While the footage doesn’t have to be scary, it can also display creative uses of the cameras. Until November 1st, Ring users can submit their videos through the campaign’s official website.
In his statement, Wolfhard admitted that while Ring cameras are well-known for capturing various activities, he would hastily vacate if a ghost appeared on his camera. This Halloween, he plans to trust his Ring camera to notify him of any occurrences happening near his house – whether they’re ordinary or eerie.
Mimi Swain, Ring’s Chief Commercial Officer, mentioned, “Each day, we receive stories from our users about fascinating or unanticipated footage caught by their Ring cameras. They appreciate the chance to stay in touch with what’s going on, even if ghostly encounters aren’t exactly desired. With Halloween being the busiest time of year for doorbell activity, we encourage our customers to be vigilant for any supernatural occurrences. If they manage to film a ghost, we’re ready to assist them in dealing with their haunted predicament. Truth be told, what makes Halloween special is the element of surprise!
Details of the contest are as follows:
- Submission Period: 12 a.m. PT on September 24th to 11:59 p.m. PT on November 1st or when 5,000 entries are received, whichever occurs first
- How to Enter: Ring users can submit their ghostly footage, from real paranormal proof to family and friends in costume, at www.ring.com/ghostsearch. Whether you catch a floating orb, an inexplicable shadow, or dress up as a friendly ghost, all “supernatural” sightings are welcome.
- Judging Criteria: Visibility/Clarity of the Ghost, Uniqueness of Entry, Entertainment Value, and Engagement
- Prize: $100,000
2016 was a game-changer for me as I stepped into the spotlight with the premiere of Stranger Things, where my character Mike Wheeler faced the terrifying demogorgon from the “Upside Down.” Since then, I’ve been navigating my share of darkness across four seasons of this beloved Netflix series, which is set to wrap up in Season 5. My adventures beyond the world of Hawkins didn’t stop there; I also joined the Ghostbusters universe with the release of Ghostbusters: Afterlife in 2022 and continued the journey this year with Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The future of the Ghostbusters franchise is uncertain, but I’m excited to see what comes next!
From the current date up until November 1st, Ring users are invited to upload their videos via the campaign’s designated website.
