There’s another reason that Dolly Parton will always love Brandi Cyrus and Miley Cyrus.
It turns out that the country star is indeed a relative of both, which Brandi discovered delightfully during the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards held in Nashville on September 26. (Check out all the red carpet styles here.)
37-year-old woman, glowing in a brief silver gown, emphasized that Dolly has always seemed like kin to her, and this sentiment was reinforced when she discovered her half-sister Miley is distantly related to Dolly as seventh cousins – a connection that even the “Jolene” artist found delightful.
Brandi revealed to TopMob News co-host Keltie Knight on the red carpet that she is Miley’s godmother. So, she often says that Miley is essentially like family to her.
The musical clans all trace their ancestry back to a common great-grandfather named John Brickley, who resided in Blunt County, Tennessee during the early 1800s. Now that they are relatives, Brandi is pondering over potential collaborations with her newly discovered kin.
The DJ pondered, “It’d be great if Brandi and Dolly teamed up for a collaboration… perhaps it could happen next year. Seems like a good idea to me.
Among the iconic Dolly songs, Brandi finds herself leaning towards one that hasn’t been remixed too frequently. Although “Jolene” is a fantastic choice given Miley’s exceptional renditions, Brandi prefers to explore an untouched territory.
As a lifestyle aficionado, I expressed my thoughts by saying, “I believe it’s high time we breathe new life into the classic 9-to-5 routine.” My reasoning behind this is simple: just as a successful remix takes a beloved and familiar track, we should select a timeless work rhythm that everyone recognizes and can harmonize with in their unique way.
Brandi intends to share her efforts with the world, as she mentioned to TopMob over the past year. She also noted that she’s been putting in a lot of effort and the results have been very rewarding.
She admitted, “This year has been quite extraordinary for me. Through visualization and persistence, I’ve managed to secure a residency at the Wynn in Las Vegas – a dream I’ve had for some time. Ever since I started this journey, I’ve been working towards it, aiming to perform at the Wynn. It’s been an amazing experience all year long.
Brandi too made her initial launch by reworking the song “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” originally by Lainey Wilson, a moment she referred to as yet another heartfelt realization of a long-held aspiration.
Beyond this, Brandi expressed that she now feels authentically herself and at ease with her role as a DJ. She playfully mentioned that others might be taken aback by her new career, but when they witness her in action, they understand that it’s the perfect fit for her.
She added, “It feels like me.”
