As a lifelong Power Rangers fan who grew up with the Mighty Morphin’ team, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and apprehension as Hasbro hints at exciting plans for the franchise. The last 30 years have been a rollercoaster ride filled with epic battles, colorful zords, and unforgettable characters that have left an indelible mark on my childhood.
The Power Rangers series has been relatively quiet since the release of Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, but there have been occasional projects and fans are eager to know what the future holds for this franchise. It appears that even though announcements have been scarce, the team behind it seems to be working on something new for the Power Rangers brand. This information came from a question posed by Moriba Forde of Moriviews to Hasbro President Olivier Dumont. While Dumont didn’t reveal any details, he did mention that they have “exciting plans” for several brands, including Power Rangers.
A Time of Change
2023 marked the 30th anniversary for the franchise, which saw the airing of a reunion special titled “Once & Always” and the last sequential season of Power Rangers called “Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury”. Both shows made their debut on Netflix, setting the stage for a new chapter as the streamer prepared to introduce a revamped universe.

The reboot, which was being created by Jonathan Entwistle (from “I Am Not Okay With This”) and showrunner Jenny Klein, aimed to interconnect characters across television and movies. Regrettably, it was recently announced that the live-action series would not progress on Netflix as planned. Reports suggest that Hasbro is now considering a fresh creative approach for the show and seeking a new collaborator due to this shift in direction.
The Power Rangers Brand
During a period of uncertainty regarding the TV and film branches of the Power Rangers franchise, other aspects are thriving. At present, the gaming sector is where the franchise is most prominent, with a newly announced Rita’s Rewind video game for consoles and mobile devices, along with ongoing updates to the popular Legacy Wars. Additionally, Renegade Game Studios continues to roll out fresh content for Power Rangers Deck-Building Game, Heroes of the Grid, and their Roleplaying Game.
