Should you choose the Sword or Shield path in Pokémon Go? Legendary Heroes event explained

As a seasoned Pokémon Go trainer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that the latest Legendary Heroes event has me truly excited! The Collection Challenges and Trade Challenges are reminiscent of my days catching ’em all during the Kanto Tour and Johto Tour.

The Legendary Heroes event for Pokémon Go has arrived, so seize this opportunity quickly to enjoy its special benefits and finish the limited-time research tasks!

At the gathering, you have the option to decide between taking the Sword or Shield route during the complimentary Time-bound Research.

Every route offers unique Pokémon discoveries, either through accomplishing Time-limited Research missions or by employing Incense to capture wild Pokémon.

Both paths feature a different Catch Challenge and Trade Challenge, too.

It’s a complex decision, but our aim is to clarify the distinctions for you, making it easier to pick the right route.

Dive into this write-up to uncover all the details surrounding the Pokémon Go Legendary Heroes event, and learn which route will lead you to triumph! As a dedicated fan, I can’t wait to join in on the action!

When is the Legendary Heroes event in Pokémon Go?

The Legendary Heroes event in Pokémon Go started on the 26th of September and is set to conclude on Tuesday, 1st October at 8pm, according to local time.

You have a long weekend to make the most of the event’s bonuses, Timed Research, Raids and more.

With the time-bound Legendary Heroes event happening right now, it’s a great idea to jump into Pokémon Go straight away!

Should you choose the Sword or Shield path in Pokémon Go?

You should choose the Sword path in Pokémon Go if you’re after a Passimian.

You should choose the Shield path if you want to catch an Oranguru.

Based on the route you select, you’ll get distinct Timebound Investigations (with their respective rewards), Collection Quests, and random Incense interactions.

As a die-hard Pokémon fan, I find myself often faced with a dilemma: should I choose Path A or Path B? Each path has its unique collection of Pokémon, and the decision ultimately boils down to which team’s roster appeals to me more.

According to the official Pokémon Go website, Incense encounters during the Legendary Heroes event will let you catch certain Pokémon.

Sword Path:

  • Seedot*
  • Scraggy*
  • Gothita*
  • Deino*
  • Swirlix*
  • Passimian*

Shield Path:

  • Larvitar*
  • Lotad*
  • Croagunk*
  • Solosis*
  • Spritzee*
  • Oranguru*

*Can be Shiny.

In the Sword route, it’s Deino and Passimian who truly shine, while Larvitar and Oranguru are worth considering for the Shield route.

Although the decision is ultimately up to you, we slightly lean towards the Shield option. Both choices are excellent, however.
