Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Envisioned Land Producer Was Inspired by Halo

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the upcoming Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Envisioned Land is truly piquing my interest. Having delved into numerous RPGs since my first encounter with the original Final Fantasy, I can appreciate the evolution this series seems to be undergoing, especially with the shift from turn-based combat to real-time action.

Gust is venturing into a fresh tale of the Atelier series titled Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Imagined Realm, and so far, it appears promising. In a recent in-depth video, producer Junzo Hosoi delves into the new mechanics featured in this RPG and how it enhances from prior installments for the better.

Nestled within the ruins of the Aladissian Empire, the storyline of Atelier Yumia revolves around its namesake heroine who embarks on a quest to uncover the truth behind her mother’s demise. Despite alchemy being prohibited, she cleverly utilizes it in diverse manners, be it bypassing challenges with enchanted boots or concocting artifacts. One of the major shifts is that instead of turn-based battles, combat now unfolds in real-time.

According to Hosoi’s observations, such a change allows players to stay alive by dodging attacks, even when they only have 1 HP. Additionally, they can perform coordinated attacks with other party members to inflict more damage. The game’s open-world environment is also significant because it was modeled after “Halo: Combat Evolved,” which was Hosoi’s initial encounter with an open-world first-person shooter.

On March 21st, the game titled “Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Imagined Realm” is set to release. You’ll be able to play it on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
