As a fan of the dynamic world of professional wrestling and entertainment, I can’t help but be amazed by Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF)’s relentless pursuit of success. His journey from the squared circle to the silver screen is truly inspiring, and it seems that there’s no stopping this generational talent!

Outside of the wrestling arena, Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) has been quite active. Prior to his win at AEW Full Gear 2022 for the AEW World Championship, it was announced that MJF would be joining the cast of The Iron Claw, sharing screen time with Zac Efron in his first feature film role. Although his on-screen appearances in the A24-produced biopic were minimal, he earned an executive producer credit for his work off-camera. Since then, MJF has expanded his acting resume, lending his voice to Killer Croc in “Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part Two” and preparing for a role in Seth Green’s independent comedy “The Floaters.

The self-proclaimed generational talent is set to meet another once-in-a-lifetime athlete.

According to Deadline, it’s been announced that Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) will star in the upcoming Netflix movie “Happy Gilmore 2”. MJF will be joining the main cast, which includes Adam Sandler, Julie Bowen, and Christopher McDonald, all of whom are reprising their roles from the 1996 original. Notably, rapper Bad Bunny, who has been involved in occasional wrestling matches with WWE, is also set to appear in this sequel.

“MJF’s third publically known film, currently in production, is titled ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’ Earlier this year, he shot scenes for ‘The Floaters,’ and also contributed to Clark Duke’s ‘Stranglehold.’ Both projects are currently in the post-production phase. MJF is said to be co-starring with Ron Perlman in ‘Stranglehold,’ portraying its menacing duo.

In a December 2023 interview, MJF expressed his belief that within five years, he will be frequently appearing on TV screens beyond the realm of professional wrestling. He emphasized his deep affection for wrestling but also envisions himself as a full-time actor by then. Additionally, he aims to release an album and establish himself as a distinguished actor, following in the footsteps of notable figures like Dwayne Johnson, Batista, and John Cena who successfully transitioned from wrestling to acting.

At present, MJF is absent from AEW’s television shows. He had his last appearance at the AEW All Out event earlier this month where he defeated Daniel Garcia. Following their match, Garcia attacked MJF, which resulted in a stretcher scene that temporarily took him off AEW TV.

Happy Gilmore 2 is currently in production.
