This game, which debuted on NES in Japan and North America in the summer of 1991, fits chronologically between the first and second Ninja Gaiden titles. Though it received mostly positive reviews, Ninja Gaiden 3 was the last game in the series until a reboot in 2004 transitioned it to 3D graphics.
