One of the Most Requested PS1 Games Is Finally Heading to PS5 and PS4

As a lifelong PlayStation fan who grew up with the original console, I can hardly contain my excitement for the return of one of my favorite franchises from the PS1 era – Dino Crisis! It’s been way too long since we’ve had a new installment in this series, and I’m thrilled that Capcom is finally bringing it to modern platforms.

A beloved PlayStation 1 game that PlayStation enthusiasts have long been eagerly waiting for is about to make its move to both PS5 and PS4. In recent times, Sony has been putting in more effort to transfer games from older PlayStation platforms to the latest technology. This transition on PS1 titles has seen games such as Ape Escape, The Legend of Dragoon, Syphon Filter, Twisted Metal, and many others becoming available on PS5 and PS4. Now, this trend is going to persist in late 2024 with a game originating from Capcom.

In a recent statement from PlayStation, it has been revealed that the classic survival-horror game, Dino Crisis, will be making its way to both PS5 and PS4 sometime prior to the year’s end. Originally launched in 1999 for the PlayStation 1, Dino Crisis was a creation of Capcom, developed by the same team responsible for Resident Evil. Unlike its zombie-filled counterpart, Dino Crisis featured ferocious prehistoric creatures that posed a deadly threat to players. Since then, the series has produced several sequels, but Dino Crisis has been absent from the scene since 2003’s Dino Crisis 3.

The long absence of a new installment in Dino Crisis for over two decades has been a major factor driving frequent requests for its appearance on current gaming platforms. With Capcom planning to revive Dino Crisis in some form, it will become more accessible than ever before, potentially paving the way for Capcom to innovate something fresh within the series if this re-release proves successful.

Currently, we don’t have much information regarding the latest version of Dino Crisis. As for its release date, it hasn’t been announced yet. However, it is expected to become available on the PlayStation Plus “Classics” collection for Premium subscribers once it launches. For now, it’s known that the PS5/PS4 version of Dino Crisis will likely include updated visuals and gameplay elements, as well as trophy support – a feature that has been incorporated in other PlayStation 1 re-releases recently. We can expect more details to surface over the next few weeks.
