As a long-time fan of EastEnders, I must say that the return of David Wicks after 27 years is a moment I’ve been eagerly anticipating. Having grown up with these characters, it feels like reuniting with old friends, albeit ones who have led lives filled with drama and heartache.
EastEnders provides a sneak peek at the return of David Wicks (played by Michael French), who hasn’t been seen since 27 years ago, as he reconnects with his ex-lover Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins). Interesting new photos offer a glimpse into their interaction.
When David met Cindy for the first time after leaving behind their dream of starting a new life overseas, it’s clear that both of them will be taken aback by this unexpected encounter!
Soon enough, Cindy and David find themselves reminiscing about the past few decades at the Beale residence, with David eagerly seeking answers from Cindy.
In the scene, it’s David’s half-brother, Ian Beale (played by Adam Woodyatt), who is Cindy’s partner, that unexpectedly returns home, catching him in a moment with David.
From the pictures, it’s clear that Ian appears displeased with Cindy, as he casts a stern gaze in her direction following her clandestine gathering with her former partner.
Amidst the confusion, the BBC soap opera is staying tight-lipped about the upcoming happenings this week, especially regarding David’s storyline – for now, they aren’t revealing much about it.
Indeed, I’m intrigued by these photos capturing Cindy and David’s intimate conversation, shared over a delightful bottle of wine. Let’s see if we can unravel their story!
In the scene before Ian interrupted, David was observed holding a picture featuring Ian and his daughter, taken by Cindy – the deceased Lucy Beale (portrayed by Hetty Bywater), who met her untimely end at the hands of her half-brother Bobby Beale (played by Eliot Carrington and Clay Milner Russell).
It appears as though Cindy is on the verge of expressing deep feelings of sorrow, having missed out on watching Lucy grow up because she was in the witness protection program for several decades.
However, Cindy seems embarrassed around Ian, whereas David appears to be trying to console his brother by patting him on the shoulder.
Although they both had the same father, Peter Dean, in a later time, Ian and David didn’t live together as children and haven’t maintained a strong relationship in their respective adulthoods.
So, is this a sign that David may try and make amends with Ian?
As I found myself engrossed in the tale, I pondered whether Cindy’s heart would stray from her ardent relationship with Junior Knight, played skillfully by Micah Balfour. The question that lingered was: would the enigmatic charm of David capture her attention?
