As a longtime gamer and wrestling enthusiast, I must say that the recent changes in AEW‘s pay-per-view distribution have been as unpredictable as a WWE Royal Rumble match! For years, Bleacher Report Live was my go-to platform for AEW PPVs, but alas, it seems we’ve reached the end of the road with them.
Since its inception, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has partnered with Bleacher Report Live as its premium content provider. In the U.S., all AEW pay-per-views have been held by Warner Bros. Discovery subsidiary, including the inaugural event, AEW Double or Nothing in 2019. However, the partnership between AEW and B/R Live has been problematic for viewers due to frequent buffering issues over a five-year period when it served as AEW’s exclusive domestic home for pay-per-views. In April this year, AEW started working with TrillerTV as an additional pay-per-view partner. By the summer, YouTube and PPV.com joined TrillerTV as alternative platforms where fans could buy AEW pay-per-views.
Bleacher Report Live “Taking a Step Back” From AEW PPVs
The B/R Live era of AEW pay-per-views is over.
In an email, Bleacher Report announced to past subscribers that they are temporarily stepping away from hosting All Elite Wrestling (AEW) pay-per-views. The message indicated that while the Bleacher Report app will continue to offer wrestling content, it will no longer be providing AEW PPVs. Fans can still follow developments and storylines on the app, though.
In the upcoming weeks, past AEW PPV purchases from your B/R account will be deleted. However, if you wish to keep the replays of these past purchases, you can do so by signing up for TrillerTV within the next two weeks.
The existing television contract between All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Warner Bros. Discovery is due to end by the close of 2024. AEW President Tony Khan has been engaged in negotiations with their broadcast partner throughout this year, and he has publicly announced that AEW’s weekly TV shows will continue airing on WBD’s TNT and TBS for an extended period. However, the specific terms and conditions of the renewal are yet to be finalized.
One detail that’s probably still being adjusted is shifting the AEW content library and monthly pay-per-views to Max, a proposition Khan has advocated for a long time.
In simpler terms, Khan stated earlier this month that we will no longer be streaming our pay-per-views on Bleacher Report because they are shutting down the service.
