Johnny Gaudreau’s NHL Teammates Celebrate His Daughter’s Birthday

As a dedicated follower of sports and human stories, I am deeply moved by the compassion and support shown by Johnny Gaudreau’s teammates and the Columbus Blue Jackets family towards his bereaved wife Meredith and their children. The heartwarming gesture of celebrating Noa’s second birthday is a testament to the bond that existed within this team, extending far beyond the boundaries of a sports franchise.

Johnny Gaudreau’s teammates are still showing up for his family weeks after his tragic death.

On September 30th, numerous Columbus Blue Jackets players gathered to celebrate the second birthday of little Noa, smiling alongside her and a large yard sign that declared, “Happy 2nd Birthday Noa!

Erik Gudbranson’s spouse, Sarah Gudbranson, posted a picture on her Instagram Stories and mentioned Johnny’s wife, Meredith Gaudreau. Sarah wrote, “Sending lots of love from your Blue Jackets clan!

Meredith reshared a touching video, captioning it with “I love you all. From deep within, thank you. This extraordinary group will always feel like family to me and our children.

In August, Johnny and his brother Matthew met with a tragic fate when they were both struck by a vehicle while cycling in New Jersey. A short while later, at their memorial service, Meredith – who is also the mother of their 7-month-old son, Johnny Edward – announced that she is now expecting the couple’s third child.

Meredith shared at the Media, Penn service, as reported by ABC News, that the previous six months had been the happiest for her and John as a family of four. She went on to say that these six months would always hold a special place in her heart, with one particular week standing out as her most cherished and favorite of her life during that period. It’s worth noting that their family actually comprises five members now, as Meredith is currently nine weeks pregnant with their third child.

She shared that prior to his untimely death, Johnny was thrilled by the “total surprise” pregnancy.

She remarked that John was radiant with joy and clearly thrilled, as he promptly embraced and kissed her upon seeing her.

Interestingly enough, it turns out that Madeline Gaudreau, who’s married to Johnny’s late brother Matthew, is expecting their first child together.

At the very same memorial service, Madeline expressed, “He was destined to be a father,” she said. “The instant we learned about our son, Tripp, it became his sole focus each day. He was constantly downloading apps, ordering books, seeking the best diaper brands, ensuring I had the finest vitamins and asking for advice from John. A moment I will always remember is when he first heard Tripp’s heartbeat, tears streaming down his face.
