As a lifelong fan of Nicole Kidman‘s captivating performances, I can hardly contain my excitement for her latest role in “Babygirl.” The trailer alone had me hooked, with its tantalizing blend of drama, intrigue, and a dash of steamy romance.
Nicole Kidman’s latest role will have you bewitched.
In the trailer for the movie “Babygirl” by A24, released on October 1st, the CEO character Romy, an Oscar winner, finds herself in a perilous situation. She’s charmed and ultimately seduced by a young intern named Samuel, played by Harris Dickenson, who insidiously weaves his way into her life. Their relationship, marked by more than a hint of passion, quickly develops into an affair that’s quite steamy.
Following an accidental encounter where Samuel saves Romy from a stray dog, they formally meet when it’s disclosed that he now works for her company, requiring her to guide him. However, things take an unexpected twist as Romy and Samuel embark on a clandestine romantic relationship, unbeknownst to her husband Jacob (Antonio Banderas), their child, and colleagues.
Samuel says to Romy, “For us to move forward, let’s establish some guidelines that we both feel comfortable with. First off, I will be giving instructions and it’ll be your responsibility to follow them.
Initially, Romy appears enthusiastic about the shift in power, but soon realizes that Samuel might manipulate their relationship to his advantage. This realization leaves Romy without any influence or freedom of choice, forcing her to conform and behave submissively.
Following the debut of the movie, which was helmed by Halina Reijn, at the Venice Film Festival in August, Nicole, who is now 57 years old, discussed her experience taking on this unique role, stating that it differs significantly from any she has portrayed previously.
She shared with the audience through The Hollywood Reporter that this experience left her feeling exposed, vulnerable, and terrified. Yet, creating it with this team was a delicate, intimate, and profound journey.
Nicole went on discussing her role by saying, “I found it captivating primarily because Halina was my director. I trusted she wouldn’t use me unfairly. No matter how others perceive it, I never felt exploited. Instead, I felt fully involved. It was the narrative I desired to be a part of, one I wanted to share, and I dedicated every fiber of myself to that endeavor.
Babygirl hits theaters this Christmas.
