As a film enthusiast who has had the privilege of witnessing Daniel Day-Lewis’ transformative acting over the years, I am absolutely thrilled to see him come out of retirement yet again! His return to the silver screen for his son Ronan’s directorial debut, Anemone, is not only a testament to the enduring power of family bonds but also a promise of an exceptional cinematic experience.

Daniel Day-Lewis, who had previously retired from acting, is stepping back into the spotlight to appear in a film directed by his own son for the first time.

In the upcoming movie called “Anemone,” the actor who was recently seen in the 2017 film “Phantom Thread” will make an appearance. This film is directed by his son, Ronan Day-Lewis.

Day-Lewis has earned acclaim for his exceptional performances in films such as My Left Foot, Gangs of New York, and There Will Be Blood, which have also garnered him numerous awards and nominations.

Written by a father-son duo, this film, distributed by Focus Features, delves into the complex ties that bind fathers, sons, and brothers, offering an insightful look at family dynamics.

Featuring Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley, and Safia Oakley-Green, this movie is being shot on location in Manchester at present.

Daniel Day-Lewis ends retirement to star in son’s directorial debut

Back in June 2017, Daniel Day-Lewis declared his retirement from acting, and since then, he’s mostly kept a low profile away from the public spotlight.

It was announced through a statement from Daniel Day-Lewis’ representative that he would no longer pursue a career as an actor.

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m deeply thankful to each and every one of my collaborators and viewers who have been part of my journey throughout these years. Regarding this particular matter, it’s a personal choice and I won’t be providing any additional comments from myself or my representatives on the subject.

Daniel Day-Lewis has taken a break from acting before and then come back, as he had a semi-retirement in the ’90s when he learned the craft of shoemaking as an apprentice in Italy.

But he returned to acting after being offered a role in Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York.

This year, Day-Lewis re-entered the realm of Hollywood following his presentation of an honorary award to Scorsese for the film “Killers of the Flower Moon.
