Daniela Melchior Joins Paul Rudd, Jack Black in Comedy Reboot of Anaconda

As a die-hard fan of cinematic adventures, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming revival of the iconic ’90s creature feature, “Anaconda”. The addition of Daniel Melchior to the star-studded cast, alongside Jack Black and Paul Rudd, promises a rollercoaster ride of laughter, suspense, and perhaps a touch of nostalgia.

Daniel Melchior, famously recognized for her roles in “The Suicide Squad” and “Fast X,” is set to collaborate with Jack Black and Paul Rudd in the upcoming remake of “Anaconda,” a ’90s creature feature. While the original film has gained cult status due to its unintentional camp, the upcoming version will consciously aim for comedy. The project is slated to be helmed by director Tom Gormican, who co-wrote the script with his collaborator Kevin Etten from “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

The initial scenario seems to hold promise, reminiscent of the modern take on the movie “Jumanji” (wherein Black is also cast). In this case, a maniacal hunter captures a documentary team against their will, compelling them to assist him in locating an enormous anaconda. As one might expect, the outcome is tragic.

In the 90’s, the film “Anaconda” featured Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Owen Wilson, and Jon Voight. This movie garnered over $150 million in revenue, surpassing its estimated production cost of approximately $45 million.

Melchior, who first gained prominence in “The Suicide Squad”, has since featured in “Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3” and “Road House”. She will next be seen in “Fast X Part 2” when it hits cinemas in 2026. Black has recently been seen in “Borderlands” and “Kung Fu Panda 4”, with plans to appear in the forthcoming “Minecraft” film. Rudd has most recently appeared in “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” and is scheduled to appear in “Death of a Unicorn”.

Initially, Deadline broke the news about Melchior being cast in the production. According to their report, this upcoming movie will not strictly follow the remake format; instead, it will primarily revolve around the central idea of a massive, lethal serpent, loosely connecting it to the original story.

Previously, it was suggested that the upcoming film will maintain the same level of quirky and self-referential style typical of the creators known as the Massive Talent duo. The plot revolves around a band of friends experiencing midlife crises who decide to remake an old favorite movie in the jungle. However, their journey takes a turn for the worse when they encounter various perils such as dangerous criminals, natural disasters, and, predictably, colossal serpents. The characters portrayed by Black and Rudd are said to be a director and a struggling actor trying to rekindle his fame, although there is some discrepancy regarding which role each actor will assume in this context.

There is no production or release date set for Anaconda yet.
