The Alters Delayed to Q1 2025

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and understanding upon hearing the news of The Alters‘ delay. Having witnessed the meticulous crafting of games like Frostpunk 2, it’s clear that 11 bit studios aren’t willing to compromise on quality, even if it means waiting a little longer.

11 Bit Studios initially planned to release their upcoming game, The Alters, by the end of 2024. However, according to Bankier.pl, the release date for this title has been pushed back to the first quarter of 2025. The game is currently available on PC as Frostpunk 2.

Przemysław Marszał, head of our company’s management board, shared with the site that the production schedule was “extremely demanding.” There was doubt about whether the developers had sufficient time to complete all the tasks we anticipated. After so many years of production, having any issues with the game is something we can’t afford at this point.

It’s not too unexpected that there’s been a delay – Frostpunk 2 was initially set for June release but has now been moved to September in order to add more refinements and features (take a look at our review). The Alters, however, seems even more challenging, as players assume the role of Jan Dolski, stranded on an alien planet with a lethal sun. To survive, he must utilize the native materials to craft Alters of himself.

Instead of simple duplicates, these entities are distinct variations of John, each honing unique abilities and individualities shaped by crucial life decisions. Utilizing their talents for survival is one challenge, but navigating their aspirations, desires, and peculiarities presents an additional complex task.

The Alters is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It will also launch for Game Pass on day one.
