Marvel Reveals Scarlet Witch’s First Meeting With Her New Protege Amaranth (Exclusive)

As a seasoned gamer and comic book enthusiast with over two decades of collecting under my belt, I can confidently say that the latest development in Marvel’s Scarlet Witch series has me absolutely thrilled! The arrival of Amaranth, this enigmatic new protege, promises to bring fresh dynamics and intrigue into Wanda Maximoff’s life – a storyline that echoes my own love for unraveling the mysteries hidden within the pages of these captivating tales.

In their initial encounter, Scarlet Witch and her novice protégé, Amaranth, go smoothly, just as one might anticipate. With the recent liberation of Wanda Maximoff from her past burdens, she’s more invigorated than ever, spearheading a fresh mission alongside faithful companions like Darcy Lewis. The ensemble of Marvel’s Scarlet Witch serial comic will expand with the arrival of Amaranth, a protegé shrouded in mystery, introduced by Agatha Harkness. Now, readers have the chance to delve into the comic book world and witness Scarlet Witch’s first encounter with Amaranth.

As an ardent fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve got the exclusive sneak peek at Scarlet Witch #6, penned by Steve Orlando and illustrated by Lorenzo Tammetta! The story kicks off with a chat between Scarlet Witch and Agatha Harkness. It seems Agatha is enlightening Wanda about Amaranth, preparing her for the challenges ahead. Later, inside Scarlet Witch’s shop, we witness an amicable handshake between our heroine and Amaranth. However, the peace doesn’t last long as they’re both ambushed – it seems to be a rampaging robot or an armored individual causing the trouble. The assailant is targeting Amaranth, but Scarlet Witch swiftly creates a portal, dragging all three into its mysterious depths!

Who is Amaranth?

Artist Jen Bartel has introduced a fresh character named Amaranth within Marvel’s New Champions variant cover series. This character, along with other young heroes depicted on these covers, is set to appear in the forthcoming ongoing series titled “New Champions,” launching in January. At present, details about Amarath are scarce; however, issue #6 of “Scarlet Witch” hints that Wanda will be assigned to untangle the mysterious past of Amaranth.

Orlando expressed his fascination with Amaranth ever since she appeared on Jen Bartel’s stunning cover. He wanted to know more about her background, her story, and most intriguingly, her secrets. When the opportunity arose to incorporate her into SCARLET WITCH and delve into those mysteries alongside the rest of the creative team, Orlando seized it. Introducing Amaranth through the Last Door offers an opportunity to flip Wanda’s interactions with a character who poses a powerful, enigmatic presence that Wanda finds challenging to decipher – a reversal of her earlier life dynamics.

Additional versions of Scarlet Witch #6 feature artistic renditions by various talented creators. These include a metallic cover by Meghan Hetrick, a design by Iván Talavera, and a cover by Leirix. The latter will also be distributed in a version without any additional elements, known as the “virgin” variant cover.
