Joy trailer gives emotional look at James Norton and Thomasin McKenzie in IVF story

As someone who has personally navigated the labyrinth of infertility, I find myself profoundly moved by the trailer for the Netflix original film, Joy. The story of Louise Brown’s birth and the 10-year journey that led to it resonates deeply with me.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Netflix has revealed a trailer for their upcoming film titled “Joy.” This moving tale chronicles a genuine and heartfelt journey – the inception of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

The film “Joy” features Thomasin McKenzie, James Norton, and Bill Nighy. This movie tells the extraordinary true tale of Louise Brown, the world’s first “test tube baby,” and the ten-year odyssey leading up to her birth.

As I find myself embarking on an extraordinary adventure with Jean Purdy, I tell her with a mix of excitement and determination, “We’re about to contribute in creating new life, Jean.

Despite encountering criticisms from all sides, either for supposedly going against the principles of science or due to misgivings about its validity, they persistently refuse to back down.

As a dedicated cinephile, I find myself empathizing with Thomasin’s character from The Purdys. She expresses the societal and biological assumption that women should bear children. This expectation, when unfulfilled, can be devastating. However, there is also an opportunity to turn this situation around for the better.

Through the lens of Jean Purdy, a nurse and embryologist, who teamed up with scientists like Robert Edwards and surgeons such as Patrick Steptoe in an unyielding quest to conquer infertility by pioneering In-Vitro Fertilization, “Joy” underscores the indomitable spirit of persistence.

As a cinephile, I find myself captivated by the tale of these groundbreaking visionaries, who defied all obstacles and adversaries to bring their revolutionary ideas to life. Their journey has not only inspired me but has given countless others the chance to dream along with them too.

Under the direction of Ben Taylor, who is also known for Sex Education, the film Joy will have its first screening at the 68th BFI London Film Festival on October 15th. It will hit theaters a month later, followed by its debut on Netflix.
