Dragon Ball: Jiren’s New Form Makes Him the Multiverse’s Biggest Threat

Dragon Ball: Jiren's New Form Makes Him the Multiverse's Biggest Threat

As a seasoned Dragon Ball fan with over two decades of watching Z-Fighters duke it out, I must admit that Jiren has always been a formidable adversary who pushed our favorite heroes to their limits. The Tournament of Power was a testament to his strength and resilience, making him one of the most memorable antagonists in the series.

In Dragon Ball lore, Jiren emerged as one of the toughest adversaries that Goku and Vegeta have ever encountered. During the Tournament of Power in Dragon Ball Super, Jiren, hailing from Universe 11, was considered the front-runner to win this test of strength. Fortunately, Son Goku managed to activate Ultra Instinct amidst the struggle, and with the assistance of other Z-Fighters, he defeated Jiren. In a fresh plot development for the series, Jiren’s latest form poses a threat not only to the Z-Fighters but also to the gods of destruction themselves.

It seems that Jiren’s latest transformation isn’t shown in the anime yet, but it has been introduced in the popular video game, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, specifically in the DLC “Future Saga Chapter 2”. Here, the evil scientist Fuu grants Jiren a significant power increase. This power-up was also given to characters like Broly, Goku Black, and Vegeta in the previous DLC, where they gained a form characterized by a pink aura. Now, it’s Jiren’s turn to undergo this transformation, which could potentially make him the strongest being across any universe.

Ultra Supervillain Jiren Arrives

In the newest DLC trailer, Jiren can be seen squaring off against not one, but four Gods of Destruction – Beerus, Champa, Belmod, and Toppo who is a God of Destruction in training, as well as a Pride Trooper member named Dyspo. Despite being a force to be reckoned with, controlling this quintet on the battlefield presents an entirely new challenge for Jiren. With Fusion’s crystal implant in play, it will be thrilling to see if even Super Saiyan Goku in his Ultra Instinct form can match up against the fierce combatant from Universe 11.

Jiren’s Dragon Ball Future

It’s been a while since Jiren has appeared again in the main storyline of the Dragon Ball series, after the Tournament of Power ended. So far, the Moro Arc, the Granolah The Survivor Arc, and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero have all unfolded within Universe Seven. Other realities haven’t been reintroduced yet. However, games like Xenoverse and Dragon Ball Heroes have given a second chance to less-focused characters in creative ways.

Viewers expecting Jiren to appear in the upcoming “Dragon Ball Daima” might find themselves let down, as the forthcoming anime series starting this month will cover events between the demise of Kid Buu and the start of “Dragon Ball Super”. During this timeframe, the Z-Fighters haven’t encountered Jiren or been involved in the Tournament of Power. Although anything could happen, we would cautiously guess that Jiren may not feature in the anime adaptation.

Dragon Ball Super Will Return

After the sad demise of Dragon Ball Super’s creator, Akira Toriyama, fans speculated if the manga was nearing its end. Fortunately, Toyotaro, the artist, hinted at a return for the shonen series without disclosing an exact release date for a new chapter. The primary antagonist for Universe Seven may not be Jiren, but rather Frieza with his latest transformation. Black Frieza managed to defeat both Goku and Vegeta in their most powerful forms, suggesting that the Z-Fighters will face quite a challenge when confronting this classic adversary once more.
