Sarah Hyland Sued by Former Manager For Lack of Payment

As a lifestyle expert with extensive experience in Hollywood, I find myself deeply saddened by the ongoing legal battle between Sarah Hyland and her former manager, Richard Konigsberg. While I have not had the pleasure of working directly with either party, my years in this industry have taught me that such disputes are all too common.

Sarah Hyland‘s former manager is taking legal action.

On September 30th, the ex-manager of a former cast member from “Modern Family,” Richard Konigsberg, filed a lawsuit claiming that she dismissed him this year after 15 years in order to evade paying him a 10% share of all earnings they made during their professional relationship.

In the lawsuit obtained by TopMob News, Konigsberg asserts that his responsibilities as Hyland’s manager extended beyond the conventional understanding of career development. He claims to have catered to both Hyland’s professional and personal needs, taking on various tasks such as connecting her with talent agents, business managers, publicists, organizing private events, and even assisting her in managing her personal and family relationships.

TopMob News has reached out to reps for both Hyland and Konigsberg but has not heard back.

As stated in Konigsberg’s lawsuit, Konigsberg and Hyland first encountered each other in 2008. At this time, Konigsberg agreed to assist Hyland during her relocation from New York to Los Angeles for her acting aspirations. Around January or February of 2009, they entered into a verbal agreement whereby Konigsberg would offer both personal and professional management services to Hyland in return for receiving a 10% commission on every project sourced during their collaboration.

For fifteen years, a portion of the income earned from the professional career of a woman who turned thirty-three back then had been consistently given to Konigsberg. This included earnings from her role in Modern Family, which she secured in 2009 during their collaboration. However, starting in February 2024, he asserts that she violated their unwritten agreement by not compensating him according to his understanding of what was owed to him.

In the lawsuit, Konigsberg alleges that Hyland terminated him in April 2024, stating that he was no longer eligible for any additional commissions from projects they had worked on jointly, except for the earnings from Hyland’s recent role as Audrey in the off-Broadway production of “Little Shop of Horrors”.

The Kingsberg suit demands that Hyland compensate for any damages, in addition to 10% of every business transaction or agreement made between January 2009 and April 2024. This encompasses earnings from shows like “Modern Family,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” and her upcoming film “The Token Groomsman,” as well as her partnership with Sourse Inc, until the death of either Konigsberg or Hyland, whichever occurs first.

Additionally, he is requesting that Hyland, who is married to Wells Adams from Bachelor Nation, take care of the expenses related to the suit (including the suit itself) and any further payments the court considers necessary.

Speaking about their past relationship, Konigsberg mentioned that Hyland relied heavily on his advice, and he always went the extra mile for her. During their time working together, he assisted her with various aspects of her personal life, such as helping her find a dentist, a cleaner, and even a roommate. Furthermore, he organized a 24th birthday party for her in 2014.

Essentially, Konigsberg was always on hand, ready to assist Hyland in any capacity – be it personally or professionally.

Hyland has yet to speak out publicly on the lawsuit.
