EastEnders confirms arrival of Teddy Mitchell’s ex-wife as Doctors star joins the cast

As a long-time fan of soap operas who’s seen more than my fair share of twists and turns, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement at the arrival of Nicola Mitchell on EastEnders. The fact that she’s played by Laura Doddington, who has quite the impressive resume in British television, only adds to the anticipation.

Actress Laura Doddington, known for her role on Doctors, has been added to the EastEnders cast as Nicola Mitchell – a new character who is the former spouse of Teddy Mitchell (portrayed by Roland Manookian).

To date, I’ve only learned that Teddy’s former partner has been attempting to conceal their shared financial matters. However, the unexpected appearance of Nicola this fall is bound to take Teddy by surprise.

Straight away, Nicola is expected to make an impact on the famous Mitchell family, and she aims to foster relationships with their sons, Harry (played by Elijah Holloway) and Barney (portrayed by Lewis Bridgeman).

Teddy isn’t likely to take kindly to Nicola encroaching on his fresh territory, yet regardless of his feelings, Nicola is resolute in holding her position.

Actress Laura Doddington has appeared in shows like Doctors, Holby City, and The Midwich Cuckoos before, and she’s currently shooting as Nicola. Look forward to catching her on screen by late autumn.

Chris Clenshaw, the executive producer of EastEnders, mentioned about Nicola’s upcoming appearance: “Much like other formidable Mitchell women, Nicola possesses a fiery spirit, strength, and an unwavering affection for her kin.

Nicola, played by the talented Laura Doddington, has a complex past with Teddy that promises an exciting journey for viewers. Additionally, we’ll get to know her connections with her two sons. We can’t wait to have you join us in EastEnders!

In my film critique perspective, I must confess, I’ve seen Doddington grace Albert Square before. Back in 2009, she graced our screens as the instructor of an antenatal class that Zainab and Masood were part of – quite a memorable scene indeed!

Concerning her latest position, Doddington expressed: “I’m hard-pressed to accept it’s true that I’ve become part of EastEnders – I’m constantly checking to make sure it isn’t a dream! As a child, I used to watch this program, and when I first filmed in The Vic, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning to be in such an iconic location surrounded by such an exceptional cast and team.

As a fellow cinephile, I’d say I can’t help but be drawn to Nicola – she’s got this whirlwind energy that storms into any room like the Tasmanian Devil from Looney Tunes! She’s got an iron will and doesn’t shy away from being true to herself, which I find incredibly captivating.

It’s been incredibly fortunate for me to be embraced by the Mitchell trio – Roland, Elijah, and Lewis. They’ve made me feel part of their family, and I’m enjoying every moment immensely.

Given Teddy’s appealing demeanor along with his somewhat enigmatic actions, there’s definitely an air of mystery surrounding his connection with Nicola. Teddy has alluded to a significant secret within his family, yet the question remains: Is Nicola somehow tied up in this secret?

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
