As a dedicated follower of Rachel Zegler‘s career and personal journey, I can’t help but admire her resilience and grace under pressure. Her ability to stay true to herself while navigating the turbulent waters of Hollywood is truly commendable.
Rachel Zegler’s Snow White is whistling a new tune.
It was revealed that the actress from West Side Story, who is set to star in Disney’s live-action remake of the 1937 film, has disclosed plans to alter a line from the original Snow White to better represent her Colombian roots. The traditional description of Snow White as having “skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony” will be revised in this adaptation.
Rachel shared during an interview with Variety on October 2nd that the story she’s working on is a new take on Snow White, where instead of perishing, Snow White survives a snowstorm as a baby. This leads to her being named Snow White by the king and queen to symbolize her resilience. A key message in our film for both women and young people is the reminder of their inherent strength.
23-year-old’s recent post about the upcoming movie has been a subject of ongoing debate on social media since she got cast in 2021. Apart from the racial criticism that arose when Rachel landed the leading role, some Disney enthusiasts were displeased with her criticisms of the original film’s storyline in interviews following her casting announcement.
In 2022, Rachel criticized the outdated narrative of the animated version, sharing with Extra, “The main emphasis is on her romance with a man who essentially stalks her. Strange. So, in our updated version, we chose not to include that aspect.
And looking back years later, the public’s reaction to her quote made her “sad.”
Rachel made it clear in her conversation with Variety that she firmly believes no one should be confined to a choice between love and work, or work and family. She emphasized that such generalizations are false, have never been accurate, and can cause distress when misunderstood or when humor falls flat.
The actress from “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” stressed that although her “Snow White” movie, where she co-stars with Andrew Burnap, will feature alterations, it will still stay faithful to the story that its most ardent followers are anticipating.
Rachel clarified, “Our love story was quite central to our relationship,” she explained, correcting any misunderstandings caused by misinterpretation of her earlier statements. “It’s just that particular topic wasn’t the focus of our conversation that day.
